Kennedy kennedy I do realise that... I don't think we claimed it to be something special... but it was nice to pick up a piece of silverware without actually playing in the final  and ur very right we did miss out on the improtant silverware. The competition was useful format he point of view it allowed sides to retain some fitness (Cavy/roslyn for the SI championship and Tech for the Chatham cup althogh can't recall if tech played in the knock out cup?)

I certainly wasn't raving about the result, but from where I was sitting Tech played some attractive football.  If they had converted half their chances it would have been 10-0 at least.  By way of comparison neither Green Island or Varsity looked half as good in the game immediately afterwards.
 
I have heard (from reliable sources) that Tech may be missing five first team regulars this Saturday.  Coburn, McKenzie, Smith, Pratley and Parkin.  That will give their opposition (Varsity??) a real chance of taking the points.

Roy, whether you believe this or not it is a pretty poor attitude. The league may end up being a three horse race but it wouldn't be a league without the 7/8 other teams.  The players train hard, put in a big effort on the Saturday and you slag them because they choose to play at GI or GB's.

I agree.  It is sheer arrogance to suggest that teams like Green Island do not play an important role in the league.

yeah great result cam well done.... beware though Im sure tech started last year well and things didnt pan out in the league as tech would have wished. All that said a great start for tech, cant argue with that

Tech won 3-0 over Braes.  I counted 6 possible starters missing from the Tech line up and they were never in trouble.  Burgess picked up a brace to take him to 10 goals for the season!
Cavy got up over GI winning 6-3.  Not sure why Cavy are leaking goals right now?
I also heard that Roslyn got up over Varsity 4-2??

I was at the games, there weren't many stand outs over the weekend but burgie's six goal haul against University was pretty good

Tech out fought and out battled a pretty Roslyn side. Burgess out thought Boylan to buy a cert penalty for 1-0. Then A skillful turn and cross by Burgess should have been held by Watty in goal but he dropped it and I think Rickerby netted from 2 yards. Coburn and Milne dominated the 3 Roslyn midfielders. Keat was missing in action (again) and Connor was outclassed by Parkin and Scoullar, brando huffed and puffed but got no where. tech keeper never had a shot to save.

Im a bit disapointed about the result today.  To be fair Tech played us of the park!  Burgess sucked me in to hammering him in the box... i probably shouldnt be playing anymore as i am 30kgs over weight and 47 years old.  I am also in awe of Burgess's quality - I want him to come to the mighty Roslyn... Aaron if you read this give me a call on 027 696 5449.
