REALLY - Thats why he got to FIFA Level. Why don't you became
a ref and show Mr Tasker how great you are, or better still if you
are still playing volunteer too ref a lower grade match, post here
and we can come and watch you, probably have a SHOCKER TOO.

Stop Out/Taranaki
Good game with, I thought, Stop Out playing very much the way
Grant Turner had been trying to get them to play. Match left with
me with a couple of questions though...
Taranaki coach, Craig Graham(?), did a lot of shouting at
his team. Started to think it was nearer abuse than shouting.
Certainly he was a one trick pony. All he did was shout
NEGATIVELY. I didn't hear one positive towards his team. His half
time team talk was more of the same. Why do some coaches do
this???
Stop Out's Andy Le Prou made his comeback from injury. Came on
for last ten minutes and looked OK. Then he got booked for a bad
challenge. It looked a red to
me. What possessed him to do it?
Andy was probably just a little bit nervious. It was a bad
challenge and probably was a red .Jim Murphy used good
judgement and realised their was no malice in it from Andy and was
just a careless tackle from someone who was a bit rusty from not
playing all season. Tasker was on the sideline watching and if he
had been ref we probaly would have had both Andy and Alex
sent off in the game as he seem to enforce the game to the letter
of the law rather that base his decision on a incident bY incident
bases.
As for the game itself it was a good victory for the lads .
Standout performers were Scott Miller playing at right back ,
Captian Garry McDermott and Striker / midfielder Asone Walrond
.
Andy's got as lot of abilty just a shame he hasn't got that extra
bit on drive. Fit and on song he'd easily, I reckon, be in
the Team Wellington side.
Alec was a bit lucky as well. From where I was
standing all I could see was ELBOW.
One of the fristrations of being "retired" seeing a guy like
Alec playing. He is so whole hearted. Ninety minutes against him
would be a real challenge.

Not related to this game at all but couldn't be bothered starting
up a new thread for a quick question.
Did Palmy Marist have the likes of Robbo, Cowan etc back
playing on the weekend or were the Hutt just really poor??
Oh man - the refereeing of Barry Tasker should be it's own
forum topic, I'm sure people who have been unlucky enough to be
reffed by him would have a lot to say.
He's a shocker!

A little hostile. Tasker a relative of yours...?
A little hostile. Tasker a relative of yours...?
probably boyfriend/lover

Tasker's decision-making has always been ok (and v good by
comparison to much of current crop)
BUT he has the BIIGGEST MOTHER F'N CHIP ON HIS SHOULDER - and,
let's say, a "lack of player rapport."

Have to be careful here, as an ex-Wellington referee! Marius,
I'd say you're spot on.
Barry was a very good referee. At least he was, usually,
consistent and you know what you would get when he was refereeing.
Always enjoyed being a linesman when Bazza was reffing.

i've been ref'd by Barry quite a few times and also bumped into him
out in the community and he's just a normal guy. Sometimes players
try to get in his face and come into games with the expectation
he's going to be a w@nker and thats what they get. my dealings with
him on the field have been pretty good, sure he's given me a few
yellows (and not fever.....ba doom kish!) but they've been
warranted each time and hes explained to me after games why he's
made certain decisions.
now my disclipinary record aside, I think there is some lack of respect for the referees in wgtn. Barry in particular. the key to communicating with the man is to look past his ego and just talk TO him, not AT him.
thats my 1 sensible post for the day

Yea,the challange by andy looked alot worse than what it was but
could of easily earned him a red.
once he gets his confidence back after been out for so long
due to injury.he will be back carving up like he usually does.4-5
games until his 100th first team game at age 2-not bad.when hes on
his game easily be in that team wellington pick and mix.alot better
players throughout welly than half that team.
Alec's just a very hard /solid tackler and very
passionate player.always good to watch.Helped stop out get into
central league and still going strong.
Looking forward to next season better atmosphere in the club
now for some reason-wonder why??
Andy-age 21 not 2 sorry.,
