Yellow Freezer - Queenstown 2009
Dammit, I was gonna make a thread for this and call it "Winterrr Prrreseason Fixturrre- vs. Victorrry in Queenstown"!
Could probably find some cheap bus fares. I hate buses personally, but beats riding with somebody you've never met in person and only conversed with over the internet.
I will head down. but traveling via plane
I hope the flight crew lose your white jeans in transit

Not sure many will travel with football being on that weekend... I know I won't make it... might find you are the designated Feverish for this match.
Can you get unmanageably drunk ?

I'm originally from Australia. 'nuff said.

Price of a return flight going on the Thurs and returning on the Sunday - more expensive if you want to go Friday and return Sat/Sun.
Looks like I will pass!
Shop around - I kept my costs low by flying cheap to Chch on Air NZ in the morning, then flying from the to Q'town on Jetstar. That being said, I'm flying down a it earlier for my brothers birthday so the price may be higher due to the festival...hrm...
Not a fan of the price barrier either, I wouldn't be going down myself if my brother wasn't turning 21 in Invercargill. But he is, my tickets are booked (including a $2 flight home from Timaru) so I'm stoked

Cheers, guys, looking forward to it!
It was that or go to a Pacific Island for some sun ... hmm, this may be the wrong decision in terms of warmth!

I should be buying my tickets tomorrow.
Depending on how the pills add up.
Otherwise I will have to fork out more next pay day in two weeks.

Cheap Wgtn to Q'town fares on Grabaseat tomorrow. Don't know if the date is good but could be worth checking out.
Itinery/event details are up in the main board courtesy of the Queenstown Events Centre organiser who took the time to create an account and let us know The thread is here : http://www.yellowfever.co.nz/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=9256&PID=345170#345170
But the gist is:
- Public training at the ground Friday arvo
- Nix make an appearance at the opening ceremonies Friday night
- Pre-match featuring Queenstown Rovers of the Footballsouth Premier League
Also - Flights from Q'town back to Welly are $26 on Grabaseat. They start on the 6th of July (I think, don't hold me to that) so could be an option for anyone wanting to take an extended skiing vacation.
As for ticketing, I'm guessing it'd be best for us to go for the bank - the grandstand only seats $700 so I imagine the tourists would snap those up quickly. Bank setaing allows us to buy at the gate should the stand sell out, and also makes it easier for other locals/tourists to come join us. I'm gonna PM the QEC Manager and see setting up a designated Fever Zone is an option if anyone is keen. What does everyone else think?

- The local organisers are setting up a small Fever Zoneto guarantee that those who want to stand and cheer, can. It'll be on the embankment, and will (naturally) be pretty informal so as to allow
- The local organisers are also setting up an on-site pub for us in the convention centre attached to the grandstand! So we'll have a good place for pre & post match drinks, as well as a place to meet up. Melbourne fans and casual welcome too of course.

Excellent!
Can't wait ... I'll just get my ticket at the gate.

Bought my tickets yesterday. Ticket sales guidebook still saying the Fever Zone is in the grandstand, but we're getting it corrected. It's also been stated in todays Otago Daily Times that we'll be on the enbankment. Also has a pic of some plonker with the founder of Queenstown.

Training session will be open to the public from 1530 to 1700 at the main oval. Following this the lads will be involved with the opening ceremony. More details at http://www.odt.co.nz/your-town/queenstown/62359/phoenix-training-open-public
Also there is a postponement date, if Saturday is a no go then the game will play on Sunday. Saturday tickets will be valid.
Pre-match is Queenstown Rovers v. Grant Braes AFC.
Weather has been nice, a bit overcast unfortunately but other than that perfect! Ski conditions are apparently great but I haven't had the chance to get out there.

Just got back from the oval. We're on the corner on the embankment side opposite of the grandstand. Looking from the grandstand, it's on the left side. There'll be a yellow archway and possibly ballons. There'll be bar tents and a concessions trailer directly behind us.
Pitch surface pretty good, weather is gorgeous. Embankment is rather far from the pitch, worse than at the RoF, but meh.
Looks like the pub at the gym will be cancelled but ah well, the Zone should be easy to find.
