Pelter is set to play in a reserves friendly game as well. So maybe
we are going to see a signing soon. There giving him the
opportunities.
Sounds like Roy was impressed. The fans on the Mackem forum thought
he was poo.
Yeah!! It is weird how there are two sides to the story. Like I said yesterday I was looking on the Sunderland forums and the fans all bagged the guy. I guess time will tell.
lunatic's been on the money so far...and if Mr Keane was as impressed as it seems it could be a goer

That is a little interesting article. Maybe Roy Keane can do something good with them. Does anyone find it weird that Brockie has been offered a trial? Thoughts??
Wonder if it will make the news if Pelter does sign?

I actually think that what happened was Pelter got sent off in the first World Cup qualifying match and had a shocker of a game and then they paired Edginton and Boxall together and from then on they were the preferred Centre Backs on form and there performance also I think Stu Jacobs must have been worried about Pelters lack of pace at the World Cup cause thats were it looks like Edginton excelled he might not be a ball player but he is quick and his determination saves him alot. I would be amazed if Sunderland sign him as he would get absolutely killed in the Premier league by most imagine some of those guys running at him. But I do wish him the best and if he can pick something up then thats great for the kid, and surely we can get others over there! Am I right in thinking he is of British decent like his parents or he might have been born there meaning he would get/have a passport already?
Even if he plays in their reserve team.
Good point LondonChris. Even just the trial period with Roy Keane and the lads will benefit him.
If he does sign I guarantee he will be loaned out to another team.
Give him a season somewhere like Barnsley and see what he makes of
it.
would that be such a bad thing? the training and competitivness would be better than the NZFC and the media coverage better than USA college football.
he's young, not many guys his age hold a regular spot in the EPL (i know theres a few, but very, very few)...good things take time

Sunderland want Pelter
Sunderland have taken Trinidad & Tobago defender
Silvio Spann on trial and could sign New Zealand star Jack Pelter.

Is lunatic just making this stuff up because he saw Pelter was
on trial?

Leeds fans are hoping he will not be another Danny Hay. lol
Some interesting forum chat on Pelter.
Sunderland fans didn't even know he was on the
bench..lol
I just hope he's gt euro parents as a wk permit would be
tricky

I guess when you have just been prmoted to the Premiership the last
thing the fans want is a signing from an amateur team in NZ.

From their Rumours Section:
Teenage defender Jack Pelter, the most famous
footballer to emerge from New Zealand since, um, Ryan Nelson, has
impressed Sunderland manager Roy Keane from afar.

The match report I read said he had ample opportunity to impress in
the half he played but failed to do so.

Brockie to Sunderland? Bollocks.
This (Borckie to the premier league)i was hinted at in another
thread a couple of weeks ago. I was wondering who the club in
question was. . . . .
Lunatic of NZ... as opposed to Lunatic of Sydney... someone
here is on the wind.
Maybe Roys old mate, Dwight Yorke, had a word in his ear about
Brockie?
Nup..still sounds like hogwash.
Wonder if it will make the news if Pelter does sign?
Prob not. . . . But if he was a Rugby player then we'd
never hear the end of it. ..

Star!? - Well he wasn't actually a first choice centre back
for the U20's

That's a goody. "Star" , geez that just about makes me
"notable" lol
The Brockie part has got to be a long shot.
It would be superb if Pelter can sign with Sunderland
though.
We would have 4 players in premiership teams.
Ryan Nelson - Blackburn
Simon Elliot, Chris James - Fulham
Jack Pelter - Sunderland
plus Chris Killen - Celtic
Mulligan - Sc**thorpe - Championship
Michael White - Cardiff?????? Championship. Hopefully
It would be the best NZ team on paper in the history of NZ
football. Assuming they are fit and available.

Actually Pelter was the first choice Centre Back and captain
in the selected squad in for the build up games. But due to injury
or suspension he missed a couple of games and the opportunity to
impress by the other two centre backs was taken. The coach thought
he would reward those players and stuck to his guns until Stu's
hand was tied for the last game against mexico.
I would have liked to have seen Boxall and Pelter there for
the duration of all 3 games.
Brockie is a current international and young...now im not saying
he's up to EPL level, but think about it, sign him for free, pay
him stuff all, and sell him off to a lower league team for 200k
(example) pro football is all about $$$$
if Keane wants Pelter he'll get him. what kid would say no to that sorta opportunity?

Yeah, I think I heard on another thread that Pelter might have been
born in the UK and his parents are british. So he should be sweet
in that area.

Even if he plays in their reserve team.
He will be fit and training at a high level which will help
improve him as a player and be good for the All Whites as another
selection option going into the WCQ for Ricki.

I'm pretty sure that our little belter, Pelter was born in the UK
and came to NZ as a 10 year old. Good luck to him in getting
a contract if he can. Roy Keane is no mug!

No - I didn't mean to sound like it was a bad thing. I think
some time spent in the lower divisions would be great for
his development. Just can't see him playing in the Premiership yet
though.
http://www.nwemail.co.uk/unknown/viewarticle.aspx?id=526338
seems he is doing some good things at the black cats, despite what
i have read on some sunderland forums?
Good work finding those articles "Andfieldhard".
Good luck to Pelter for Wednesdays decision then.
Come on Pelter!
those are some good links...i wonder how strong the interest from
Everton would've been/is....
New Zealand U/20 defender Jack Pelter has signed a 3 year deal
with Sunderland in the English Premier League. Meanwhile, team
mate, and All Whites fringe player Jeremy Brockie has been asked to
trial by Roy Keane.
From the Aust 442 site, and posted by 'Lunatic of NZ'. This true mate??

Huge news if true.
Good luck to Brockie if thats true also.
That comment in 442 was made 2-3 weeks ago. I don't think anything
has been official yet.
According to the articles above by Anfieldhard, Pelters mum
says he hasn't signed yet. I think she would know before Lunatic of
NZ.
he still trialling there?
