Hmm. .. .  could be a long season on the bench for Killen. . . .  Coach won't even use him when they're down 2-0 and need a goal. . . .

Hate to say it guys,he would have been better off signing for Cardiff, rather than cutting up the half time oranges for Celtic. He would have been first named upfront for Cardiff, too late now, we got Robbie Fowler instead!

Robbie who?

Oh you mean the dinosaur that had a couple of good seasons for Liverpool over ten years ago and has been plagued with injury ever since.

Yeah, not surprising that he would retire to a small club like Cardiff.

Ha, ha...thought that would get a reaction.

Good luck to Cardiff and to him. TBH I do think he's rather over-rated.
I hear Trevor Sinclairs joined you too. Another player past his prime, but should do well in the Championship. I will be watching the coming season with interest.

Apparently, he got injured in their friendly against Peterborough and wasn't even on the bench against the MLS mob

AUCKLAND All Whites hitman Chris Killen continued his comeback from injury on Sunday, with his third game for Scottish champions, Celtic, on their pre-season tour of Europe and the USA.

In a 1-1 draw against the Chicago Fire, Killen replaced Netherlands striker Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink after 75 minutes and looked impressive as Celtic chased a winning goal.

The appearance was Killens third all as a substitute for the Glasgow giants after making his Celtic debut against BSC Young Boys in Switzerland on July 13 and then featuring against Peterborough United a week later.

Despite a healthy goal scoring record in Scotland, the ex-Manchester City, Oldham and Hibernian striker faces tough competition to break into the Celtic starting frontline.

As well as the lengthily-named Dutchman, there is also Kenny Miller and Meciej Zurawski internationals for Scotland and Poland respectively plus Australian Scott MacDonald, and Scottish young player of the year Derek Riordan to contend with.

Vannegoor of Hesselink, whose name must terrorise Scottish Premier League shirt-makers, as well as defenders, was Celtics top scorer last season with 13 league goals, the same tally that Killen scored for Hibs in an injury-curtailed season.

The Bhoys have two more games left in their pre-season schedule - a visit to St. James's Park on July 26 to take on English Premiership side Newcastle before finishing up at home with Italy's Parma on July 29.

Cetic's defence of their Scottish Premier League crown begins at Celtic Park on August 5 against Kilmarnock.

Meanwhile, New Zealand Under 20 captain Jack Pelter, on trial at Premier League newcomers Sunderland, was brought on by Roy Keane at halftime in their warm up match against Sc**thorpe United - a match which also featured All White David Mulligan for the Championship side. Sc**thorpe won the game 1-0.

He's always been able to score goals, so even as a bench player he will be used and could be a fan favourite.

I watched the Celtic vs Chicago Fire game on Sunday, Chris had a good 15 minutes at the end but I agree with the previous comments that he would have been much better off going to Cardiff, definitely more exposure to more managers and scouts in the UK.

Hopefully he can prove us wrong and score the winning goal in the old firm game.

Bring on the Phoenix!!!!!!!!!!!

Young Phalio I agree that "BOO YA" is having a great season but I think you need to watch some more MLS if you think he is the best player in the league.

Could you explain to me why he didn't make the All Star squad?
