I have specifically chosen those leagues because we have NZ's
playing in them or potential to play in them. Thats why I left out
a lot of leagues.

I know it is hard to make comparisons.
im quite suprised Romania scored that highly
Some not bad teams in that league - Steau Bucharest comes to mind
i see your point there, but its not like you hear alot about them
in the latter rounds of the CL
Yeah, but the way Champions League is designed these days it's very difficult for clubs from poorer leagues to compete.

I am interested in how people rate the A-league compared to
other leagues etc.
If the English Premier League was rated 100 as a starting
point how would you rate the other leagues and divisions around the
world. The way I was looking at it was if we took the top 3
teams from these leagues, would they do well or hold their own in
another league. i.e. would Sydney FC, and Melbourne of last year
compete comfortably in the MLS. I think they would.
I will start my ideas below.

The reason I am interested is because I am trying to look at
the strength of NZ players around the world at the moment on
paper.
I think missiing, serie-a, la liga and most other european leagues makes your list a little skewed. Most europeans champions league teams are strong enough to put all those leagues ahead of many outside europe, and you should also remember the J-league and south american leagues.
I think it goes like this:

I understand that mate, it's just a curious looking list is
all.
I find it interesting that people have the MLS on the same level as the A-League. I would see that the MLS is equivalent to the English Championship. True Melbourne and Sydney maybe competitive on their good days but week in and week out I think they wiil struggle.
I would be interested to know what exposure people are seeing of the MLS outside the US.

Your having a giraffe ranking English Leagues 1 & 2 that
high. Remember, thats where we sourced the Knights from.
Everything English football is not quality.
According to the UEFA Rankings the top 10 leagues in Europe seasons
(based on performances in European competitions over the last 5
season) are
1: Spain, 2: England, 3: Italy, 4: France, 5: Germany,
6: Portugal, 7: Romania, 8: Netherlands, 9: Russia, 10: Scotland

MLS is better than the A-League at this moment in time, no doubt
about it.
