Chatham Cup shambles
How come NZ Football did not plan for the conflict of the
premier cup competitions and the International games???
It is unacceptable for the Womens' second semifinal to be
played a week before the final - it seriously disadvantages the
winner who has to arrange travel in less than a week (what's the
bet the final will be allocated to Auckland??). Secondly any
sending off or injury will mean the player will miss the final
whereas if the same thing ocured in the first semi final this would
not necessarily be so.
Who is the bright spark that decided the semifinals should not
be on the same weekend and at least 3 weeks before the
final??
Is our game run by idiots???????

Well intentioned Idiots
Its certainly disappointing to see the Knockout Womens Cup and
Chatham Cups messed around with. A better scenario would have been
to have the semis played much earlier and the Finals on 25/26
August. With the Chatham Cup being a curtain raiser for the
Phoenix V Melbourne game. Just a thought......
A Nix mgmt person said to me once that there are no curtain raisers for A Lge games

Refer them to last years Chatham Cup final.
It was held before a famous Knights Victory.
Great double header for us many Wellington fans who made the
trip.
The Knights played the curtain raiser to the chatham cup final last year. indeed nightz it ws a great double header, highlights for me were malik buaris great goal and wests keeper imrays 3 penalty saves in a row, havent seen anything in football like that!
Why may i ask do the auckland teams automatically get a home final?
Are there not two other teams in this competition that are on
a disadvantage because of this as theyre on the back foot
already?!
If Wests win they should get at least a flip of a coin chance
of hosting!
And it's not even going to be televised.
This should be the game to showcase NZ football and help
raise the image of the sport and very few people will actually get
to see it.
Hey Wellyphoenix....they did a supervised draw in Auckland - the
winner of whichever semi came out of the hat won the right to host
the final - it just happened to be the all-Auckland semi that was
drawn out, otherwise the winner of Wests v Cavvy would be hosting
the final.
Mike Kernaghan and Terry Maddaford did the draw
apparently....
