Trains like Tarzan, plays like Jane
Yet 10 minutes of watching Richard Johnson and you reckon he's not good enough ?
Please...
Interesting thread Daikiwi, of course you are entitled to your opinion. These guys are just kids and we all know that picking winners at junior level is a struggle. God, half of the guys in the 1999 u17 team aren't even playing football and of the Brazilian team that won here in 1999 only one is a professional footballer.
I hope you are proved right.
There are exceptions of course, Stacey Jones was unbelievably talented as a youngster, as was Ali Lauitiiti - in another code of course but kids I saw in action for their junior teams. Real standouts who went on league stardom - Ali Lauitiiti was dudded bystupid Warriors management and we have not seen the best of him here, although Leeds has.As for the thread, completely agree with JD.
Only saw 2nd half of England game and thought Costa played great.
I am not trying to bag on Costa, but I don't understand comments by some of people defending him along the lines of "he is only 17".
very interesting posts, on side note i thought mattews played pretty well, he was one of the only players that had balls to try anything. Overall pretty disappointed by the guys performance in general. i dont think we are very well planned. Most of the goals scored against us were pretty soft, basic marking and movement let us down
And that Man United Youth included
Ryan Giggs (c) Phil nevilel, Gary Nevill, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt, David Beckham Ben Thornley, Keith Gillespie, Chris Casper, Terry Cooke, Robbie Savage.
I have a sneaking suspicion Lee Sharpe was in there as well.

The boy Barbarousos might come through who knows it will probably depend on how Herbert and co manage him but i reckon there will have to be a lot of toughening up based on these two performances if he is going to mix it with the big boys!
However they do say that the cream always rises to the top eventually lets hope so!
