How the hell you can even blame the ref has me beat ,
I thought he was overly harsh on Miramar they got something like 6 yellow cards to the Greeks none.
You were totally outclassed you had nothing on the bench to help you when it got tough you were outsmart and out gunned in all department's it was embarrassing really.
The M could of and should of won 12-2 they hit the woodwork four times fluffed numerus chances when it was easier to score than miss just accept it it's life and the ref was no way to blame at all.

Whats with the abuse of dom rowe, he can't be that bad, when he came on miramar got 5 goals and how many did olympic get? shame butterfield got sent off, but could see it was going to happen when the ref booked half the team.  Where did those greek flags go towards the end of the game?

I said mate that Miramar deserved to win! Fully they r a much better side then we r and they showed it. All im saying is that, that was a terrible call when ben got all ball and they got that penalty to equalise. Olympic is the sort of side who would defend that lead but when the ref gives a stupid call like that then thats out of hands cant do nething about it. And ye some of our supporters did leave at the end of the game yet the remaining supporters still were about 5 t o1 of the miramar supporters. We had alot of people there and unfortunetly didnt chant much due to a lack of our younger mates. And as for Dom he cn fk off pulling the fingers at the crowd when hes on the ground wat kinda player does that ay. Butterfield a great player, one of the best in central league pitty that hes got his head so far up his ass, cockiest player out.

Oh k listen, what ever you guys do dont beat up on Olympic because Pavlos over here cant filter out what he SHOULD be and SHOULDNT be saying.

At the end of the day i enjoy the Miramar Olympic games the best because im sure it brings out the best in both sides and because theres alot of history there.

On the day Miramar had much better depth and defenatly out-fitness-ed us and towards the end of the match, we were no where to be seen.

I thought that 2-2 we held our own and the penalty killed us. Olympic are a spirit team, heads high after every goal, but once we concede and lose the lead, we went into a downward spiral. Hopfully next year we can learn from our mistakes and become better as a team.

Im sure Miramar have alot more quality in certain parts of the pitch but i KNOW that olympic has somthing Miramar dont. The only way i can put it is that Olympic play for the shirt.

Dont judge olympic just becuase of what me and pavlos write, we are very very very very typical greek supporters and love our team to bits, and you guys fuel our desire to prove we are the best. Thats why we talk so much sh*t. I call it how i see it and if you guys dont agree id be glad to arguee with you for hours over it...just pm me...

Olympic vs Miramar are always the best derby games in wellington, agreed that Olympic fell away when they went down a goal, but if you look at most of miramar's games this year once they get a goal a whole lot follow in a rush which blows teams apart.  The rest of the central league fans should follow the example of the greek fans support, will miramar and olympic meet in ivan england at some stage?

I think its pretty obvious that Miramar v Olympic games are a true derby especailly seeing the passion etc in some of the tackles on the weekend. I have to agree that we were beaten by a better team on the day and like I said to Graham Little after the game Olympic were always going to struggle because we lack the depth that Miramar and Wests have. At the end of the day to finish third on the table  considering the start to the season we had and the fact we are rebuilding is a great effort. Hopefully the boys will all stick around next year and we can build on this.

We just need to learn how to win the big games and not panic so much when thigns don't go our way. Obviously its hard to end the season with a 6-2 hiding but all in all its been a great season and I'm sure everyone is looking forward to next year.

Well done lads and cheers to all the supporters on the weekend.

Uncle Steve...love what your doing supporting Olympic and the weekend game V Miramar was the best of the season for atmosphere and quality. Olympic good in a very even first half but Miramar blew them away in the second. For your credibility I think you need to realise that it was Miramar "playing for the shirt" and Olympic dropping their heads and committment outside of Simon George.

Keep up the great work Uncle Steve it's what we want in Wgtn football but keep it real as well! Dont lower your flags early, stop singing and leave early...like the team play the full 90!

Thanks Steve but we only stopped chanting as we were having some problems which i will not discuss on here, but rest assured. The blue and white army will be back next season bigger and stronger and louder.

Half of our so called 'fans' left when we were 5-2 down. To me that signals weakness and doesnt really look good for the O, but for the ones that stayed thanks guys and dont worry in the off season we will be upgrading our ammunition.

I urge the other CL teams to start up supporters groups just like YF to start getting their supporters together and chanting. Would be nice to see the CL's atmosphere evolve over the next few years.

Uncle steve I love your passion BUT the whole Miramar squad new it was Butterfields last game and to say we didn't play for the shirt or dont have passion for our club too is not right. I love these games..the banter on here its all good because we all know how we all support our own clubs in our own way.
cant wait for next season.

Well said Roy, I enjoy the Olympic guys posts its good to see some passion for football, I agree with uncle steve it shouldn't cross the line to personal abuse. If those guys were in your team would you really have same reaction or would you be putting it down to their "passion". If you are following a little old lady doing 40kph in her car imagine she's your grandma, it does chage your perspective.  I'm looking forward to (any) Wellington team beating those Auckland guys in Napier.

Carney, that was questionable enough that I didn't like it, so I yanked it.

Steve's is pretty close to getting yanked as well as the person you are talking about is not involved in the discussion and able to defend himself.  If you want to have a discussion on these lines take it somewhere else.  It's not particularly football.

Cheers

Fair enuf, let me try and re-word it.....

Some people are built to just dislike certain people, maybe deep down Butters has a greta respect for the passion and flair that Olympic have........I dislike certain people, but in the football world the people I dislike are mostly the people who I either aspire to be or wish I was good as.

now for some answers to Nightz Q's :)

Question 1: Will Barber21 be injury free by 2008? I'm working hard on strenghening both my ankles and my right knee, am just starting to jog which is a good start.
Question 2: If yes to 1 how long will he last? Provided I don't have to play Upper Hutt i should last a whole season.
Question 3: Which club will Barber 21 be playing for...the Greeks? 1. Have no desire to leave Lower Hutt at all, I have been well looked after and well received by my new club. and 2, The Greeks are fairly deep at the positions where I would offer something.

Thanks for stopping by Yellow Fever, i'm Ron Burgundy.

Whether you like butterfield or not you cant agrue with what he has done at Miramar, the attitude of him and the likes of little and hedge made Miramar one of the most successful sides in nz since 2000, he is and always will be a great player and club man

Agreed and no one is dissagreeing. He has done the most for that club i believe but i do not think Graham Little has. I could also go on and on swearing about this dude the fact that he left his so called loyal club miramar to come to us for money and then leave us as soon as we lost all our other good players. welll what kinda player is he. Gold Digger mate. Hedge has been very good and seems like a great person too, one of the few to come of miramar that are respected amongst other clubs. The Chotes have done alot too for that club and Allens a good talent but would be better of at Olympic haha.

Time to be serious. It all stems from tall poppy syndrome doesnt it? whoever is doing well is surely in for a good dose of criticism.....its something prevalent in NZ society. Its fair to say that Olympic, Wests, Miramar and Wellington United are the 4 clubs in Wellington who have enjoyed the most success (i dont mean just winning titles either, success can be defined many ways) over the last 10-15 years, and at the same time have probably had the most stick given to them?

Club loyalty is a dying thing here in Wgtn (i know having experienced it myself) but more power to those guys like the Phil Pattersons and Tim Butterfields of this world who stick it out.

Come on HN, couldnt you say that for all the players that are given slack on this site??? eg, Kosta on his performance and just in this thread Mikey H who was critisised. Even the Nix players after their performances.

Im not doubting butterfields talent or commitment, hes a great player and has held miramar together over the years, im just saying that comments that he made publicly over the radio which is public information was targeted towards the greeks and i belive that he is given sh*t from the greeks because of this.

If someone says Costa was rubbish because he played badly, that is fair game, if someone says Costa is sh*t because he's Greek that's not.

We always said that if you can back up a few and it's not knee-jerk responses chances are it will be left.  What is being said about some people on here has nothing to do with how they play on the field.  That rule hasn't changed, football opinions are welcome but personal slurs are not, particularly if the other person isn't here to contradict them.

Fair Enough. My point is that Butterfield said some things about the greeks which fueled their hate for the player. (That is fact) And past and present he has a fierce rivalry / bad feelings against the greeks. (Fact: On basis of his match report and him pulling the fingers to us in the crowd on numerous occasions) You can even ask him and he'll agree!!!

Just answered a comment. Thats all i was trying to say. Wasnt being racist or ethnocentric.

Well put HN.

I praised the Olympic guys for their passion in a previous post but the other side is when it overflows into "hate" (to quote uncle steve). I think the point Roy was making was this also flows into the performance on the field. I can't see the point of kicking somebody and "trash talking" if you lose the game?!

I understand the pride and passion of Olympic is Greek and I think that's great, more of it I say but it might be a little "ethnocentric" to always just immediately transpose the two. I've played against some great "non greek" Olympic players.

I dont expect people to think Oylmpic IS Greek. But i think people make this comparison because of the clubs foundation and because of the type of players at the club.

We have alot of Greeks at Olympic but we also have many other natinalities and we welcome them with open arms. If you respect the club and wish to play for us because we show so much passion spirit and enthusiasim then youll fit right it.

Its the same with island bay, i mean you say Island bay you think italians, olympic you think greeks.

Think of olympic as a Cake, Greeks are the main ingredients, but it wouldnt be a cake without the other ingredients. THATS GOLD.

Football is played with passion by people with passion for the game. Club rivalry is historic in so many countries and flows through generations for reasons lost on most players.

We must never take passion to the level poison or hatred.
