Kiwis squad
Adam Blair, Lewis Brown, Greg Eastwood, Nathan Fien, Bronson Harrison, Lance Hohaia, Shaun Kenny-Dowall, Thomas Leuluai, Issac Luke, Simon Mannering, Sika Manu, Benji Marshall (captain), Ben Matulino, Fuifui Moimoi, Jason Nightingale, Frank-Paul Nuuausala, Sam Perrett, Frank Pritchard, Junior Sa'u, Jeremy Smith, Manu Vatuvei, Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, Antonio Winterstein.
Chief, tbh I wouldn't have Moimoi in my top 13. Not off the back of his form this year. Packer not in this squad so I would probably have Manu on the bench where I had him. Sau obviously gets the nod at centre with Ropati out. The final bench spot for the back/utility would come down to Eastwood, Leuluai, or the winger that doesn't get picked from Nightingale and Perret.

I'd put nightingale ahead of perrett. I see Aus are trying to claim underdog status, what a load of rubbish

A few rugby league games on tonight.

Maori v England
Followed by

Kiwis v Samoa.

Kiwis should smash Samoa and I am hoping the Maori can put up a good fight against the English.

Although just looking at the Samoan team coached by Steve Price lol.

They got a few good players in there. Francis Meli, Ali Lautiti, and Vidot

Vidot pulled out, cuz the game was deemed a test match, so would kill his QLD origin chances for 2 years.

Im looking forward to the Maori's game, its  a shame its on at the same time was the Shield game so can only watch one. Looking forward to see how Rangi Chase goes.

Superb crowd tonight. Then saw they had a good part of the ground fenced off. Still pretty good. Loving the game. Super try from Benji.

Great comeback from the juniors. Particularly enjoyed out prop chasing down their fullback along the touch line.

On another matter.
Can anyone tell me why Carney has been named international player of the year? Considering that the only meaningful international competition is only halfway through? And he's only a fringe member of the Aus team...

Journos and past players vote that one it's only three years old and again an Australian wins the award
I guess the season he had in the NRL guiding the Roosters from wooden spooners to grand finalists Getting the Dally M medal may have had something to do with it he's been fantastic for the roosters
having sorted his off field stuff out.

Joel Monaghan on the other hand ...

I think you've misunderstood the award criteria. I'm pretty sure it goes to the player who has played the best/most consistent [in the world] over the last 12 months in any form of the game. Rather than [how I think you've interpreted it] the best international representative, based on performances for his country.

In which case he is a very worthy winner IMO.

Played so average.  Not even a proper fight.  Ref was atrocious though that could be my incorrect understanding of the rules.  For example, Aussies last try our only hope of tackling the try scorer was taken out by Tate and nothings given.  Then when Benji reaches over to place the ball for a try it's stripped - that's legal in the in-goal I believe but surely when Hohaia jumps on it it counts?  No way a strip is knock on is it?

Oh ok, I thought he may have been something like that, but wasn't sure.
Does make a bit of a joke of the international competition though. Can you imagine a rugby player win international player of the year based on Super 14 / Heineken Cup form?

well its not like there is alot of international league so to base it on club form is pretty appropriate i think, in rugby there is enough international games to base an award solely on those performances

it doesnt make a joke of the competition, the competition is to find the best leaque player over all comps (nrl, super league). and i think it pretty much did that

Sorry, didn't mean that it makes a joke of the competition, I guess that makes sense. Meant to say that it makes of joke of international league, that they don't even factor it in to an award like that. But then on 2nd thought, do they do the same in football? e.g. How much sway would international form (say at the world cup) have over club form (e.g. champions league) when selecting footballer of the year??

He's quit  jumped before he was pushed. the NRL were/are going to de register him anyway so if he wants to play league it will need to be in the U.K/France.
