Won the herald's sports person of the year award
I'm biased, but I've got to say that article is one of best I've read on Nelsen. It is great to see the guy finally getting the recognition he deserves. He is truly an inspiration not just to footballers but to all sportspeople and fans. He is a professional on the pitch and truly comes across as the most sincere guy off the pitch. This year has been incredible for New Zealand football and Ryan was at the heart of its success.
and of course, if Winston had been on, Ryan would never have had a chance to score!
I'd say his American wife will drag him back to the States.
Wonder if he will ever come and spend a year with the nix

He'll be like 35 when he signs with us.

Not saying he'll be crap. Just stating what his age will be incase people ask. Zwaanswijk would be the top defender in the league. Such a quality player.
Let's face it, it is time Nelsen moved to a proper, quality club, preferably Wellington-based.
I reckon he'll move to the Canterbury Shakers (patent pending)
full 90 for nelsen who had almost a draw vs chelsea before conceding a late goal:

like the front page says, good on ya Ryan!
Apparently he scored this morning. On a report I read it said Nelsen scored in 79th minute (it said under the big scoreboard) but the actual article says that Dunn fired it in on the 79th. Article fail or did he really score, someone who watched it?

Scorer: Nelsen (79)
Scorer: Givet (89)
"Bale grabbed his second of the match in the 76th minute when he slipped the ball home from a cross by Alan Hutton, before Blackburn substitute Dunn fired a 79th-minute goal for Rovers with a 20-yard drive."

Article fail.Just checked 101 great goals.
Just saw highlights on Sky Sport. Dunn hit the shot which Nelsen got a slight touch on and claimed it.
So he does.

4-2 to Tottenham over B.burn. Nelsen blocked a couple.
Scored a goal last week and an assist this week for Ryan in the Indian Rovers 2-0 win over Villa

Part of a defence which shipped 7 against United. Feel for the guy.
A good day for Ryan today. A headed assist for the first goal and the third goal in a 3-0 win over Wolves.
Ryan Nelsen picked in the 'team of the weekend' on ESPN Soccernet Press Pass

Guess Sam Allardyce can't keep wishing for Ryan to end his international career now!
Good job, Allardyce is a fit obnoxious git
One thing Sam can't be accused of is being fit.

Fantastic! He has had a rich vein of goal scoring form this year. This one is a classic . . . if not quite a 30 yard dipping volley into the top left hand corner . . .

I bet he enjoyed getting pummeled into the snow by his team mates afterwards as well. haha
If Ryan doesn't win the Halberg it will be a travisty. Ritchie can have it next year when the all blacks win the world cup. Lets face it no one else will have a chance in 2011. 2010 should be footballs year.
congrats to the Admiral on his New Year's honour!!
He is back as captain now, after Samba expressed his desire to move when the new owners arrived, (but is going to stay on). 3 - 0 loss to Sunderland, one a deflection off Nelsen
He received some good reviews following there win against L'pool
Three against Perennial strugglers Liverpool, the Perennial strugglers Liverpool coach's face, "we did quite well, but it's not nice because we were supposed to win...."
looks like he may be getting a new CB partner.
I was at Ewood park on Saturday as QPR fan, and I thought, unfortunately, that he played really well. he came quite close to scoring a couple of times right in front of us too.
Nelsen is playing very well today against Europa League side Chelsea.

He's often said he'd like to play for the Phoenix when he's finished in the Premier League.

awesome to know that he will still be playing at the top level come 2013, hopefully enough to make him see that he has to be a part of the All Whites 2014 world cup setup.
