I've had a suggestion about the Bucks Head too, but I have no idea what it's like there. Very football friendly though I hear.

I think gangst means venue as in Pub to watch Phoenix when they are not playing in Christchurch.

The Bard on Avon always has UK football on, would have to get a commitment from them that they would screen Phoenix.

As to before the game here - The Lancaster is the closest pub to the venue - would make sense to have that as YF HQ for Jan 30?

No he wasn't, he was meaning what stadium to play at. Which is AMI Stadium.

If there is a venue which makes a commitment to showing Phoenix games for the yf community in CHCH then I think it would be only fair to attend the same venue for the game in Christchurch.

James, this thread is about a venue to watch matches during the season, not about the CHCH game in January.

Also for anyone that's interested I'm going to watch the 'Nix on Sunday at The Bucks Head. 31 Victoria St opposite the Casino. Will be there from about 2pm (assuming it will be open then).

Two suggestions, The Holy Grail was EPIC for the AW during South Africa. Or Macs brew bar has sort of become the unofficial YF home away from home pre game venue.

Looks like the Holy Grail is no more http://www.menumania.co.nz/restaurants/holy-grail.

How many of you are there? I'd probably be keen but would need to know they will definitely show it. It's 9.30pm on a Friday and up against the first round of you-know-what

Shame, it was a good sports bar when it was actually showing sport. Just ring around, Macs brew bar will probably be obliging if enough people show up. Otherwise the Bard on Avon and the Bucks Head are both football bars and will be showing it before Rebels v Tahs I would say.

Checked out a couple of places in town today. "Yeah, sure we're showing it... hang on... you were after the Rebels-Waratahs weren't you?"

Think we'll give it a miss tonight...
