Good thing you scored that 5th thus preventing a Newcastle v. Arsenal comeback.

another 30 minutes for the 2nds and (finally) my first goal of the season for them - the all important fifth goal in a 5-0 win. That was a cup quarter final so we are still top of the league and on target for a double.

played for the Poly Vets last night (over 35's). Came off injured after about 70 minutes ina 2-1 win against the top of the table (and previously unbeaten).....other team.
Sorry to hear that bro. Get well soon

That must be the forth or fifth time now.

Kind of forgot about this thread.
In a career that never reached the heights predicted by my mum, I have just hit another new low. Played 2 weeks ago for the 2nds but was pretty terrible. Was away last weekend but back for selection this weekend. The 2nd team coach stated earlier in the week that they had a full squad so he would get me a game for the 3rds. Found out last night that the third team don't want me, and that I had been hawked around the club like an old set of shirts. The only team that wanted me was the 8th team, so tomorrow I am at Bank of England for a relegation battle (and hopefully some mortgage advice) for the Poly 8's.
Got an email about the game this morning and we are expected to meet 1.5 hours before kickoff. I am imaging that is because we all have to tie each others boot laces up as no one can reach their own.
Hope this went well for you.Hopefully showed the 3rds and 2nds what they were missing out on then??
playing today. Beautiful day here in London - perfect for football. Actually quite excited (and hung over)
Remember to give the ref a big hug at the end.
I am generally quite nice to refs these days, but will take it to a new level
great fun. We won 4-1, I scored directly from a corner (as in, I was taking the corner) and hugged the ref at the end (which surprised him).
Back with the 3rd team tomorrow. Our home game has become an away game due to our pitches becoming a carpark for the boat race (?????????)
We won 2-1 in the weekend, in a pretty enjoyable game. We were 2-0 and cruising for pretty much all of the game, with them scoring with about 20 minutes to go. In the standard (but incredibly tiresome - I am sure it has been covered on here before) kerfuffle to get the ball back to the half way for kickoff, our keeper ran 40 yards to push one of their players who had squared up with our centre back, and promptly got sent off. The remainder of the game was a battle but we held on for a deserved win. That keeps the thirsty thirds in second place in the league, and on course for promotion.
In my tiki-tour of the London Poly football club I am playing for the Vets on Wednesday night. I am guessing that this is the level that I should be playing at these days.

Went to the hospital this morning and it turns out I have torn the calf muscle. Season (and possibly career) over.
