Guy Demel was born in France and obviously became a citizn of the Ivory Coast cause he was not good enough to play for France.
Good minute-by-minute written commentary here, giving Reid good mention for his sterling defensive efforts- and he almost got in on the goal action with a header narrowly wide from a corner:

full 90 in carling cup loss to league 2 aldershot
hammers went down to 10 in the second half and aldershot made them pay really.

Fat Sam tried a nearly brilliant idea of putting a centre back (Winston Reid) up front when we were losing. Actually, to be fair to our Winnie, he probably did more in the 6 minutes he was up there than Freddie Piqueone did in the 75 minutes he was there.
Piss poor game and result, and our Winnie looked a bit patchy for the first time I have seen this season.
From what I read on KUMB, he at least seemed to get slagged less than most of the others

that is kind of like a bald man winning a fight with another bald man for a comb.
West Ham 3-0 up after 32 minutes!
Reid just assisted Carlton Cole's goal which was West Ham's third.

WINSTON SCORES THE 4th
Goal!! Winston Reid hits a very good right footed shot to the lower right corner from the right 6 yard (aprox. 6 yards) and scores!! West Ham United now leads 4 - 1
Sitting in 5th on the table after 5 games
Seems to have consolidated his place

looks like winnie was having a ball in that game. ON YA KIWI!!
According to WH website Reid back in nz for few days bc intl window and no league game until 10th. Must be feeling good about his footy at the moment
Yes that is a good article, seems like he is really enjoying it. Like that he won a bet with his coach that he would score in the next 4 games. Visiting his family

IT seems Winnie is really enjoying the championship... Hitting some form... Maybe the premier league came to soon??? and he thrown out of position...
This season will do wonders for him
This season will do wonders for him
Good to see him getting plenty of publicity on the WH site.
He actually said he was going "home" (read Denmark)

West Ham have signed a Kosta Rican (is that right?) international defender who plays right back but can play right across the back line. Hopefully this doesn't affect our Winnie's chances.
Guy Demel? He's from Ivory Coast.
Or at least he represents them internationally, but was born in France.el grapadura2011-09-01 12:16:03

Reid is cemented in starting xi right now. His spot to lose.

Demmel can also play midfield apparently, so seems to be more of a utility signing than specifically to play any position.
I tweeted the page in the last match day programme about his top 5 games - one for Denmark U19's vs Spain U19's which ended in a mass brawl, his debut for NZ vs Aussie, NZ vs Slovakia, debut for West Ham vs Villa and the game for WH vs Burnley when he scored his first goal for the club
Full 90 for reid in a 4-3 home win
Reid's on the bench!
Played 60 minutes in the game as he replaced tomkins in the 30th minute in a 0-0 away draw:
Played ok it seems
"Alongside Faye, James Tomkins limped off midway through the first half with a groin strain that will keep him out for ten days, meaning the rested Winston Reid had to come into the fray. He was to more than play his part but the manager was concerned to lose Tomkins"

Played the full 90 minutes against peterborough yesterday, where West Ham won 1-0. Looking at the player ratings on Sky Sport UK, he seemed to played quite well compared to others in the team.
Was injured and not in squad for Ipswich loss. Shame as was in a groove and serious comp for cb positions in tomkins and Faye. Sounds like may be out this weekend also.
the OS didn't say he was injured and suggested that he was just dropped, but they also describe Illunga as a defender, so what the f**k do they know?
Injured according to the match report
"The manager made two enforced changes with Matt Taylor (calf) and Winston Reid (hamstring) missing out."
"The manager made two enforced changes with Matt Taylor (calf) and Winston Reid (hamstring) missing out."
And big Sam said something about having to assess reid's fitness before deciding squad for this weekend.
West Ham should be boosted by the return of Joey O'Brien, Winston Reid, Mark Noble and Matt Taylor when they face Blackpool after the international break.
See front page...
West Ham refuse to pay Winston Reid transfer due to bitter dispute with Fifa
West Ham United are refusing to pay transfer fees for three players they have bought from overseas clubs because of a bitter dispute with Fifa.
Can see what the club are trying to do, but it is unfair on FC Toomanyconsonants.
What I am annoyed by (and this is in no way relevant to Winston Reid, but I cannot be bothered finding the West Ham fred) is that we have to pay 40k a week until Jan for David Bentley to fcuk about in the gym at Spurs training ground.
Maybe we can take Dyer on loan from QPR as a replacement
Sallright Frankie, consider it practice for your rent agreement on the Running Track.
Good to see him play a full 90 after his injury. And team won 4 - 0

Played the full 90 minutes against Southampton this morning. West Ham lost 1 nil and Reid picked up a booking in the 90th minute.
