It looks like Wellington are being rewarded for their support of the Phoenix with a All Whites game in Oct. Do you think we will get a crowd similar to phoenix games? Does anyone think Vanuatu will be easy beats?. What are the odds of Nelsen staying injury free and actually being here on Oct 17Th?

Did Vanuatu not beat  the all whites 4-2  in Australia the last time they played them, and as for watching the All Whites at the stadium the last time i watched them there they got beat 1-0 by Dunfermline athletic in one of the worst games ive seen in my life ,mind you the huge 3,000 crowd didn't do much for the atmosphere!
Ah these were the days, not like now with your 14,000 crowds ,professional football teams ,singing fans etc,we didnt know how lucky we were then!

Yeah, back in the day, you had the peace and quiet atmosphere at the stadium, now its full of bloody football fans. How inconsiderate

Come on, get in there in numbers.  Crowds like 81 all over again.  It would be nice to have that atmosphere again.

One thing to note is that the news article has the November dates wrong.

Fiji v NZ is on Nov 17
NZ v Fiji is on Nov 21

Personally, I think all of NZ's home matches should be in Wellington and that the Fever Zone should remain just that albeit temporarily re-branded from Yellow.

I think if we can all get down and support the team they will look at Wellington more as it will riase extra revenue

We should try and get at least everyone from the yellow fever zone and get some chants to support the boys. Then players like Nelson will feel more inclined to make the trip down here for future games. If hes willing to fly all theway here to play Vanuatu the least people can do is pay their 10 bucks and drive 3 km to the stadium and support him. And it will be nice to see a victory.

If he wants to play, Blackburn can't stop him. They can only decline to release him if it's a friendly international. Of course, they can put pressure on Nelson to withdraw himself from selection.

Im surprised you ever wanted to watch a football game again after that !
I think Mark Hughes will have more say on whether Neilsen plays against the the mighty Vanautu  rather than  any "inclination" on the players part ,just the way it is nowadays im  afraid.

I say we will get the crowd there, if Wellington can support the Phoenix then why not the country? 15,000 would be great, but i hope for more

I hope you guys aren't thinking that you are the only football fans in the country. Bear in mind that when the All Whites came to Christchurch the game had almost no advertising at all and we got more than 10 000 along to that game.

Lets hope for a 25000 crowd, with folks travelling from the South island as well as all over North Island, really create an intimidating atmosphere for the opposition, and lift our lads to victory!!!!!  Every football fan should try to make it to Auckland for the Fiji game too! Auckland's not too good at supporting football as we know!!!!  Just the hard core Bloc 5 lads, who all deserve medals of honour!  Auckland needs a good turnout too!!!!  Our Thai Airways All Whites deserve it too!!!!

Warning guys, this is Vanuatu after all.  NZ does not have a history of big crowds for NZ vs Island Nations and as for the Fiji game it makes sence being played in Auckland due to the large Fijian community there.

It makes no sense playing in a place with a large Fijian community, as the Fijian team would get more backing which could lift their game.

All the world cup games are during FIFA designated international windows so FIFA rules state that clubs must release players so Mark Hughes has no say. I'm sure he'll let Nelson knows exactly how he feels but he can't stop him.

If felt like only 1500. Good idea about Newtown, the crowd would have been close enough together then to chat to one another which would have helped to pass the time.

I spent most of the game arguing that the Bloc 5 banner wasn't a fire risk becasue even though it blocked an aisle there was noone within 30 mteres of the aisle.

Even had to get it smuggled in on the team bus FFS !

Hope you are right about the 25000 crowd, but somehow I very much doubt it.
If it was in Melbourne maybe. There was 70000 there last night for the match anainst Argentina

So for Auckland to win an attendance contest with Wellington we would need to get at least three times the attendance Wellington gets for the coming World Cup qualifiers.

The population does not mean anything,as it is the passion for sport that counts. If it was population, then Wembley should have been for 300000.
Melbourne has passion and I think Wellington could be on the same level.
Auckland has never and will never have that, and that is why Phoenix should do OK regardless if they finish in the top four.
The AW should never play in Auckland as they are too apathetic.

The All Whites are not the same team they used to be, they have quite a few start players and all are pretty much in form, i would be surprised if they didn't win by at least 2 goals
