Cole Peverley (Charleston Battery)
Moving once the ASB Premiership season finishes.
Seattle liked the look of him but due to the foreigners rule can't sign him so have placed him with tthe Battery to start working on time in the US and also so they can call him in if they find they need to.

the third tier of US football hmmm
Is it deemed professional?
Sure beats playing for Assault & Battery ...
Ka boom tish!
It is a professional contract.
On placement from a top tear club. Sometimes you have to do the miles and > ASB Premiership.

Good on the lad... Professional contract is a pro contract in any league in the world...
Former club of Terry Phelan,Blair scoullar and current club of current Manawatu player Colin Falvey. If these 3 guys played surely you get a couple bucks a game
The players: With a cast on his arm, Bill Robertson faces approval from referee Mike Hester. Cole Peverley has left for MLS club Charleston Battery. Phil Doran joins Leon Birnie on injury list.
Hopefully peverley will have good performances at the battery to get noticed by Seattle sounders and sign in the MLS next season

Sorry for the late arrive.
Hopefully Peverley will enjoy his time here in charleston.
the Club is professional and only recently self-relegated to the the Thrid division which more to do with travel cost and instablity in the second tier as they are living year to year (some say month to month) with their sancitioning by the US Soccer Fed.
Anyhow, brief history of Charleston Battery, founded in 1993. Named after a defensive wall built overlooking the harbour (hence the cannons in the crest) Won league championships three different times including last season 2010. Beautiful pitch and privately owned 5100 seat stadium. average attendence around 3500-4000. got to the final of the US Open Cup (similar to the FA cup) in 2008. Knocked out several MLS (top tier) teams over the years.
I expect the Battery will be very competative again this year. The season kicks off apr 9 and you can usually watch the home match online.
Ill swing by from time to time to keep you updated. Let me know if you have any question.

Peverley got the start in our last preseason match on Tuesday ngiht. Did well enough in the center against the 2010 D2 champions and while the Battery control large portions of the game, the Islanders got the only goal in the game.
Peverley was also on the local radio today. didnt hear it but heres a photo of him in the booth
Battery kick off their 2011 season on Saturday night. you can watch the Battery home matche live and free at www.USLlive.com they also archive the matches if you want to watch them later (or for sad gits like me, over and over again....)
Peverley played the full 90 in the Battery's season opener win Saturday night. Did pretty well but thought the Battery as a whole looked a little nervous and kind of like a team that didnt want to lose as opposed to a team that wanted to win.
goal was a OG by a Charlotte defender but a win is a win.

Great stuff Mikey, thanks for keeping us updated
had an assist on the battery only goal
The Battery continued to pressure the Riverhounds defenders, drawing a free kick from about 20 yards out. Midfielder Cole Peverley sent a bending ball to the far post, but Pittsburgh keeper Hunter Gilstrap, a former College of Charleston star, made a diving stop to end the threat.
The Battery continued to press after half-time with midfielder Cole Peverley forcing Pittsburgh goalkeeper Hunter Gilstrap to make a save in the 50th minute. Peverley found some space at the edge of the box but his shot was smothered by Gilstrap
Non-travelling reserve for the friendlies.
If an attacking midfielder gets injured, Dan Keat might be an easy option for the game in Denver...
Cole has been a regular feature in our matches here and doing well enough. Sadly, the team can't seem to find the back of the net right now.
you can watch the matches online via www.usllive.com they have several Battery matches archived and also stream the match live on game day. The Battery play again Saturday May 21 7:30 EST (not sure the time difference even though my sis-in-law lives in Austrailia!) the Battery will be playing away but it is a"Derby" as the match is only three and half hours away! We should have a good showing of supporters up in Wilminton for the match.

Peverley may have a serious foot injury. He was forced out of the match Saturday night after a tough tackle. last I heard they he was going for X-rays to see if their was a break.
The Battery play again tonight (Tuesday 5-24) so I should find out more details then

Played the last 30 minutes in a 2-1 win
So far played 12 games and 10 as a starter...
1-0 home loss for peverley:
The Battery nearly answered a minute later when Kelly got on the end of a long ball from Cole Peverley.
Played the full game in a 3-1 overtime loss vs Orlando city and got booked in the last minute:
Is Peverley going back soon to the states? At the beginning there was an interest from Seattle sounders in the MLS before he signed with charleston but since then no news...
