Stop Out
They do not need to be fab quality, but it would help if you know (approx) when they were taken. Can any one help?
if anyone can direct me to any pics online that'd be great. :0)
Barry was a brilliant, world class keeper; in fact the best I ever saw in NZ during the 80s. Pity that knee injury nobbled his career. Yep, I remember him flying through the air one godawful day at Newtown Park to tip over a Derek Gibson-Smith thunderbolt. Sensational stuff! Made a similar save for the All Whites against Oz a few years later too.
Watched him the day he tiptoed behind a keeper who rolled the ball DGS zapped around him and put the ball in the net.

Stop Out sure had some interesting characters during the National league days, some I can remember
Sam Malcomson, Geoff Brand, Maurice Tillotson, Tom and Glenn Winter, Duggie, Steve Boyland,
Te Whiti was a good set up as well why did they leave there with the lights, clubrooms and gym all in one place.

With Dugdale and barton I am trying to think of other 'Hard' players from that era. I know Petone had a few over the time as did Wellington City.
heard he was class back in the day.
Did Gordan McAbnee (not sure of spelling) ever play/coach Stop out? What sort of player was he? Met him once in Auckland but heard heaps about him.
Speaking of hard men and Gordon McAbney, (Scotsman), I remember the first game he played in NZ was against Petone at Te Whiti Park, (Wharfies home ground that year). Another player with a reasonable reputation for physical awareness, Eddie Phelan, clatterred Gordie in a bone crunching tackle. With steam coming out of his ears, G Mc put his hands around Phelan's throat and raised him off the ground. The closest thing I have seen to a hanging on the football feild.
The council is upgrading the facilities in line with the sports administration building and the Hutt park upgrade. The upgrade includes new grounds hopefully they should end up with 3 Senior pitches, more junior pitches and an expanded training area. The council have included overdue changing facilities next the clubrooms. Stop Out should end up with the best footballing facilites in the Wellington region.
Question I have always wanted to ask is what does STOP OUT stand for?

Eddie was a cute Asian guy wasn't he? My older sister used to go out with a guy Wayne who played at Petone he was a nice guy. He had a flat with Warren and Gary I think.
Clearly it was. There you are using the username StopOut and making errors as fundamental as that. I suggest you give up the username until such time as you're worthy of carrying it.
(edited the emoticon to indicate that this is tongue in cheek. )
