Nice one Frankie. I'd forgotten about Rab C Nesbitt, yup that
was pretty funny as well. Obviously not as funny or
intellectual as somebody like Alf Garnett and anything with
Penelope Keith or Richard Briers in it but, hey we're Scottish
and we'll laugh at any old s***e! Never
fallen down a well but I'll bow to your superior knowledge of how
amusing that is.

Anyway the skits are not anti English as such but are more a simple look in the mirror using a self effacing type of humor that is in my opinion funny and well delivered !

McGlashan is a comedy exaggerated stereotype of the Scots nat type,
the comedy isn't that he's ranting about the English, more so that
most Scots would recognise something familiar in the behaviour they

Spot on! Rab C Nesbitt's the same, part of the reason I find
him funny is 'cos he reminds me of people I've met. Having an
Englishman ranting about the English just wouldn't work.
