This might need to be moved to another thread but I thought I'd start it here.

Below is a wee exchange between radio sport and me. I replied, stating that I doubted  the accuracy of his comment, that it isn't a trivial matter to me and suggesting that the new sports radio channel might have more a professional approach to journalism and treat is listeners better.

Hi Ed.
To my knowledge they are still called NZ Soccer.
It is a preference thing and at this point in time it is not essential to make costly alterations for such a trivial matter.
Cheers,
Dale.

To whom it may concern,

Why do you call football "soccer" on your website? Other media have responded to the name change of the national body; it would seem reasonable that you would do the same.

I'd be more pissed as to why they didn't cover the WC Qualifier.  f**king crap.

fair enough, on so many fronts they seem to take great delight in not giving football the respect it deserves

apparently this new channel  - name escapes me but it will be on radio Pacific's frequency is funded by the TAB, so it might make more of an effort    ...?

bugger, I heard on the national programme's "media watch" that it would be broader than that

I agree although i must admit having grown up with "soccer" as the only word used,it has taken a some time to get used to calling it football myself.I now make an effort to correct anyone Im talking to who uses the old term.Okay im being pedantic but those at work only use football when talking about the Phoenix,as they say from small beginnings. It will take time but i think it will get there.I just find it strange that a so called sporting radio station can be so condescending.

like you say Ballane to call it "trivial" was a wind-up, it took a lot for me not to bring up the all black loss and the consequent trauma for the poor wee lambs as an excuse for his attitude

basically the word trivial , made it a "stuff you response"

we could perhaps send them a few emails,

maybe that way Dale will Budge

Top marks to Radio Tarana for covering the game yesterday. Gig black mark for radio sport. What chance coverage from Port Vila?

Dewhurst annoys me - everyone else I hear on the radio talking about the Phoenix or the AW's is good.

The Phoenix Hour is great - do you guys sl*gging off the radio coverage call in and do your bit to make it better?

Yeah having the Phoenix hour on the radio network is awesome- and they gave a heap of free air time to Nix and YELLOW FEVER for our ads. Good on the radio network.
RS do need to change their website to football - but so does the Herald and a lot of other sites whose website is secondary to them.

I heard yesterday that  the new sports channel purports to be  a sports station that will take a more intelligent look at sports issues than the current Radio Sport does(shouldn't be to difficult) ,it will however like Radio Pacific before  be funded primarily by racing and the TAB,which i suppose means cutting to live giddys every ten minutes!!

radio sport - why do we bother?
