Jeez, just found out that JJ Cale has died.8(
R.I.P.
Mick Farren died on stage I am gutted.
Minor Rock star with The Deviants, but well known in the music biz
A fantastic writer really undervalued for his science fiction work most notably The DNA Cowboys, Texts of Festival and Phaid the Gambler
Political Activist
Social Commentator and historian who wrote histories of the leather jacket and the use of the drug Speed.
Sometime editor of International Times
Music Journo with The NME
Ex boyfriend of Germaine Greer
I think he taught at a New York Uni too.
Funny guy with a wry sense of humor. Never met him my brother knew him and said he was a great guy.
Mick I loved your books, no more Phaid, no more Billy Oblivion. Just gutted. But a good way to go into the Nothings Mick.
Seamus Heaney - Poet
David Frost - journo & political commentator
RIP David Frost. An excellent interviewer. Enjoyed his programmes.
Frederik Pohl - Science Fiction writer and editor. Sad as he basically has been Science Fiction's elder statesman for the last 40 odd years.
Ray Dolby - Music and Film would not be the same without him. Dolby has always been there for me so quite sad to see the owner of such an iconic name dead.

Father of the home console.
RIP Ken Norton - The man who broke Muhammad Ali `s jaw

I really thought he was a lot younger than 70.

Bob Newhart played "Professor Proton" in an episode of The Big Bang Theory in season 6.
Did he? He never looked well to new all those years ago tbh so I'm surprised he's made it this far.
Apparently he is also booked to appear in 2 episodes in season 7 or 8 which has now entered the staff pay negotiation stage as it has been cleared to proceed.
RIP Tom Clancy - Author
RIP Tom Clancy - Author
+ 1 Wrote some excellent novels.
First 5 books were exceptional. I don't like it then when some writers do co-authoring.

"Uncle Chop Chop" has reportedly moved into palliative care...
I shall be very disappointed if Bindi Irwin gets a Stingray Spike through the heart as I had her during 2011 & 2012.
I'm in second place but lagging by a Mariner 101 points.
:(
RIP Uncle Chop-Chop.
He definitely put the vice into "vice-like" handshakes - my digits never recovered lol!

Same - He was the hero of my youth. Lucky enough to see the Velvets in their 1993 reunion tour and still have the t-shirt. They played for 3 hours solid and only missed out "What Goes On" in their set. Shamed many younger bands in their endurance and musical ability.
Loved his ongoing war with Lester Bangs which can be read in Psychotic Reactions and Carburetor Dung.
Berlin is ranked as my joint number one album of all time.
The world just got a lot less interesting.
To mark Lou Reed's passing I've had his initials stamped on my headphones
This might start an argument but is not intended to, but I rate Lou Reed a better song writer and performer than Bob Dylan.

The Podcast Mixer.
heh, My Old Man had the pleasure of spending a bit of time with Mr Reed in the mid-70's , by all accounts an interesting character.
The Reed album I most like is the New York one from the late 80's early 90's with Rob Wasserman on Bass. Pretty biting commentary on America.
Just found out Peter Fatialofa past away......I know, egg ball !!....but who`s gonna move my piano now !!!!
I always thought a great personality !!
Very much so. A excellent guy that gave everything.
RIP Billy Foulkes.......A Manchester United Legend !!!
