Does anyone know anything more about this? Players? Home ground? Only seen them mentioned in the draw release from NZF.
Wanderers SC
Still trying to figure out the name. Blatant rip off of the FFA version.
Rumour of a friendly tomorrow against Waitakere but just a rumour AFAIK

Wanderers SC 2 Waitak 3 - although 2 of Waitak's goals from free kicks awarded inside the D. Only Waitak players I could see missing from Sunday, Robbo and Hogg.
The kids played with good shape and harried through out the game - no backward step by any of the kids on the field!
I still think the kids really are going to push some of the ASBP teams, (although maybe not ACFC - before anyone reminds me)!
Do there results count ?
Would they play in the top 4 play off?
The wouldn't be allowed into the O league I wouldn't think....
North Harbour no. 2 = Home ground. There you go, load the car at Pack n Save so you don't pay for parking, then cross the road for the footie.
Beat WaiBoP 2-1 last Sunday, 3 Nov.
Does anyone know whose in the squad? Mostly players from the U17s?
I understand that their home ground is actually The Trusts stadium out west.

Because they're officially a club under 'Wanderers SC' with players transferring and registering as a club I don't see why they wouldn't be.
it would be nice if NZF let people know what the gig is
they still don't even have a page on the asb prem web site

Would be great if NZF was vaguely competent .....but I dont see that coming soon either........
They surely can't play in the O league though ?
apparently not ...not sure about the actual standing of WSC , usual NZF F U Id imagine....

As stated earlier they are a club so they of course they can make O league?
Will mean players can transfer near the end or at the end of ASB league to fill gaps and commitments. Club can then entice players over for the O league?
only if the club is in that position come the end of the season of course.

the answer is for the franchises to take over the management of the league

Sounds good to me too. And there's also the idea of returning to a club-based League* (pretty much what we've got in the N Island now anyway); with the real attraction of an O-League place + World Club Cup as the reward.
*See my post #1557 on Waibop thread.
Am I reading the last 3 comments correctly? You believe the ASBP will be worse off with the 2015 NZU20's train on squad being included for the next 2 seasons?
If so, and they were removed, what do you recommend as the next best alternative in preparing the players who will be asked to represent NZ when we are in the global football spotlight hosting the U20 World Cup in 2015?
climb down dude
i was referring to the management of the league, not what teams were on board
^ This.
Apologies if I misinterpreted the collective messages.
While I too shake my head on occasion about NZF, in regard to preparing a team for the 2015 U20's World Cup I think NZF has made some really good decisions. eg the inclusion of the 2015U20's train on squad in the ASBP, amending the age limit of the Youth League so only 2015 elligible players are playing, etc.

Er, not sure about that. Think Youth League is U20 for 2014, so 1994s and younger?
2015 U20 would mean 1995 and younger.
Sure someone on here must know this better than me.

As a spectacle? In terms of quality of football? In terms of public interest?

Sorry to butt in but you're new to this forum Op. You should do a bit of back-reading of related threads e.g. those pertaining to ASB franchises. Just to get up to speed with various opinions, relevent and irreverent.
Yeah, fair point that I hadn't considered.
I guess just the friends and family of the 30-40 kids involved is not going to put a lot of cash through the turnstiles.
This ends up being part of the "cost" of providing the kids the best possible preparation for 2015.
i was against it at first. to me, the notion of a national youth team in a national league makes a mockery of that league.
however, having been convinced by vader that the league is a joke anyway, i softened my stance
also upon seeing how competitive this team is going to be, i have softened my stance further
i do however have a problem with the following double standards from NZF:
- they turfed youngheart out - youngheart was full of promising kids
- it was ok to under perform in the ASB prem until NZF wanted their own team in it,, then they used this as an excuse to give youngheart the boot. they changed the 'criteria' to suit.
- all other franchises are making an effort to promote their teams to the areas they represent, wanderers have done nothing
i would be absolutely ok with things if wanderers were set up like western sydney wanderers in the a-league - owned by NZF, with a playing roster restricted by age and nationality, properly run, as a club, with it's own board and management.
and therefore in theory, the club could be transferred to other parties with the proviso that the age and nationality policy was in place (at least to some degree, i would see benefit from a couple of quality older or overseas players playing alongside these boys)
Thanks Jerzy, any particular threads better than any other? Happy to do the reasearch. Have been a casual supporter of the ASBP over the years, mainly supporting the Auckland franchises. But, as you observed, only recently became aware of this Forum. Cheers
If theyd only paid more ,.....
it's nice to have you here, your posts are good
Thanks bud...

The league does not have to be a joke. If the NZF insists on treating it as such then a least we, as fans, can help by going to as many games as possible. New Zealand desperately needs this league to survive I believe. Like you say YHM had many promising youngsters and then they had the rug pulled from under them. NZF should have put some rules in place that said the ASBP teams had to field a minimum number of youth players or pushed the youth league more.
If they treat it as a joke , surely not going is the best reply.....

arent there still rules on youth players ?
Have they actually named a squad for this team or are they picking it week to week?
