That they're unimportant?
they're important bro, EU work permits become a heck of a lot easier
Team wont play till after brazil - maybe even 2015

Also important for seedings for World Cup qualifying (though this is not all that applicable to us).
But yeah, can't see us playing many games next year, if any.
We may pick up a training fodder game for teams heading to Brazil. We are not going there, our team wont kick the crap out of the opponents, friendly and we can put out a decent young team.
I wonder if Australia fancy a rematch........
that would be brilliant
i pissed myself laughing when grella had to retire injured. it would be good to maim that cunt cahill too
I think we need to be playing matches regularly. Why don't we play Australia more often? Alternate venues every other year.
Play Oz in June before the WC and maybe a London friendly in February (mainly so I can watch ha ha).
Is there another Oceania Nations Cup in 2014?

Applications for coach of non-playing international team here please. Laugh? You've got to.
Why would Australia play us? They have nothing to gain and everything to lose. They know we'll come out and try kick the crap out of their players and it will be one of those games. They have nothing to prove to us. They are better than us and have absolutely nothing to gain. It's a loss loss situation for them and a win win situation for us.

Absolutely brilliant if NZF could make this happen, but I suppose the likelihood depends on the cost to the NZF. Does anyone know how this kind of thing works?
You just hit up countries that are going there. All you do is say 'If you want a training camp in NZ, we are happy to host you and we can assemble a team to play against you. there will be a small cost involved but we take the gate.' You then trot out a team mainly of off season Euros (Wood, Smith and Reid) and players in the Australasian area. Its an easy win if NZF are proactive. The operative word in that sentence is proactive.
Smart people would hit up Australia and other teams that are close by for friendlies.

All lovely in theory folks but please have a look at a world map, check out some travel options and let me know the flight plan which takes you via NZ to get to Brazil. Why would a team go out of their way to play us?
Throw in a quick tour of the Shire/Hobbiton and a cable car trip. Compelling.
Or we could travel to their place.

From NZ it's marginal - I know Air NZ was looking into this, but nothing came of it. Australia is too far away.

If we can't afford to fly teams in from Asia or Americas, and/or players from Europe, perhaps arrange a couple of friendlies each year against OFC nations playing with players based in NZ, Australia and East Asia?
Keeps ranking points ticking over and players on the fringes get more of a chance to impress in the All Whites shirt. No more of these silly 'B' or u23 internationals!
Be good for the development of young players like Fenton, Rufer, Roux etc... and give ASB Premier players more hope of impressing. Take on Solomon Is and Vanuatu in September or October!

I remember reading Mexico had looked at organising a tournament for teams that didnt quite make it. Would be cool to get something like this happeing. Get all the teams that lost in a playoff, I imagine youd get some decent TV money.
Dreams are free right?
We need to bring back the trans-tasman cup if we cant get into asia. We need to utilize every fifa window to play as many friendly matches as possible with AFC opponents. (Probably will be the cheapest for decent quality teams)
we should play a womans team
Why dont the NZF put us out there in the spotlight, suggesting to teams that are playing in the World Cup, to come and play us in a warm up? It could be a possitive win win for everyone and gain valuable experiences for the younger players in our team.
Isn't there direct flights to Argentina so teams could come here, go there and onto Brazil. Just remember these other countries have substantially more disposable funds than us. What we can offer is game time and some decent accomodation.
We wont know if we dont give it a try.
Getting to New Zealand is so difficult that such an idea would not really appeal to anyone.
You can't fly directly to Brazil from New Zealand (nor Australia for that matter).
Nobody's coming here for a game pre World Cup, but that doesn't mean we can't jack up something next year.
We'd have to base ourselves in Europe to get any games. And don't think we'd be sought after opposition for teams that have qualified for the World Cup, but could pick up games against the mid to lower ranking European sides.
Do NZF consult the players and get them to help attracting friendly games? I imagine players like Winnie, Tommy and Wood may have a few connections with players from other countries...
A few games in europe in june would work
Scotland, Austria etc perhaps then hopefully during sept oct windows again
