What happened there?

I just set up the "what if?" post to try and get a discussion going on how we can boost the ASBP (and Nix) and it seems to have been closed. Unfortunately it descended into a slanging match with too much negative crap but that's a pity because we need to have a serious discussion about this. I was asking a question - not blaming the Phoenix for anything.

Can't we reopen the thread and try and be intelligent about it?

The fact so many responded so quickly shows it's something worth debating, but can't we cut out the personal crap?

The problem is that one side don't actually want a debate.  They just want everyone to agree they are right.

They offer a position and when people start to spot the holes, point out the flaws and ask questions they never get answers.  That proves frustrating.  

One of the mods decided this has been litigated plenty of times since these people stopped supporting a New Zealand side in Australia (co-incidentally when that side became Wellington based) and after well over 100 posts the direction was going to be no different.
