Nah no way you can deny 2nd place in Cap 2 auto promo. They've earned it and it's in the regs. Finishing 8th is always a chance of going down - this year is no different.

says the guy on the men's committee!

(and it's not 8th it's fourth to last)

didn't they support the 11 team league?

i am pretty sure i read in one of the many bits of information from capital football at the time that this committee supported the rule change for the 11 team league this year of 2014…..

so where was the statement of " finishing 8th is always a chance of going down last year"….?

NZFA said 8th was relegated but CF could do what they like in 2014 as far as composition of their leagues so we got 11 teams in capital 1 and this was supported but this men's committee….

so 8th is not always a chance of going down?

i am getting confused with all these people and where they really stand…..

I think you'll find the men's committee didn't know about the 11 team league until it was a done deal. That was (perhaps) the MAJOR issue with the decision. Capital Football bypassed their own rule making process in order to prop up North Wellington.

If it was my club getting relegated from 4th to last I don't think I could go quietly. Roughly 36% of Cap 1 teams getting relegated...seems ridiculous. But that's Capital Football for ya I guess

5th to last could be relegated in the mid-lower grades if a Rapa or Horo-Kap team

wants entry. I think.

Yeah i think youre right, last year in Cap 5 we were looking at potentially 4 going down dependant on what was happening with higher grades (ie. Central League relegation, Rapa/Horo Cap 3 as mentioned... etc). Turns out only 1 went, and they pulled out anyway - so technically nobody was relegated, instead a spot was free for another team. I dont think anyone joined Cap 3 either.

Meh, it's usually up to 30% so what's 6% between friends?
To be clear I never did and still don't agree with Cap1 being 11 teams but it's happened and we all knew once it was confirmed that 8th could go down. Deal with it.

Exactly.  We knew 36% would be relegated and then some lawyers will make some money.

It's also 12.5% of the teams who are usually safe or better. The real interesting one will be what % of teams will fight for their place in court after losing it on the pitch. The precedent is 10%.

i know the initial 11 team situation was made by the board alone but i remember after the NZFA decision the man in the chair saying it had consulted and had support from the mens committee?

i may be wrong so i will dig into my email archive to double check and if correct will post info.

sorry if anyone thought i was having a go at energy 24.7 i just wanted clarity on what i remember reading at the time.

and are  you all sure that no one on that mens committee was involved in the process that gave us 11 teams in a league ?????

Nah group not consulted about Cap1. Did get proposed Cap2 9 team league changed to 10 though.

funny how it was mentioned on yellow fever how stupid it was that two divisions were going to get a bye and how simple it would be to stop teams in cap2 being affected by their decision for 11 teams and a few weeks latter capital football have a brain wave……

perhaps they are watching our every move?????

See Wharf have been transferred off KP to Alex Moore number 2. Surely pitch cant be much better? Who is going to benefit the most? Wharf or Wainui. Must win for Wainui, interesting will be the side Wharf put out, as their first team now playing Monday night. ..

Wharf 4 Wainui 1. Game played on JvilleNo 2. Although Wharf had plenty of chances,

they took an hour to score. In the meantime Wainui led 1-0 for ages, hit the woodwork

twice and had a goal disallowed. ((Wharf used a genuine second XI.))

Wharf lucky with disallowed second goal. Leveraged from it to score 4 in a row. The Nui's typical bobsleds then started coming out. Wharf leaves Alex Moore with 3 points and all limbs intact.

Double down! Hmmm

The double down seems to be becoming increasingly common. Guess it shows how competitive Cap 1 is and also indicates how much weaker a team gets from relegation. Plenty of players will be anyones if it means theh can play CPL

true enough but if you have depth in your club then not so hurtful as you can replace with a resonably good replacement and if you have developed the players you will get some who will be loyal to the club if treated right and stay to rise again.

watched the last 30mins of wharf vs nui, disallowed second goal for nui (which should have stood) was a turning point. Nui not as dirty as previous years, but not suprrised they are going down, really didn't have a lot going for them

Final score NW v Mar? Watched 1st half and NW were up 1 nil. Good header. Had squandered a few chances also.

A lot of Wainui players retired at the end of last season I think. Some real battlers, but pretty long in the tooth.

Squeeky bum time for the top 3 teams...

hoping for a nice day on sunday as a couple of interesting games on i see.

top two playing teams who have been struggling to stay out of the death zone.

Karori have the hard task of KCU at weka where they have been very strong all season but a loss to kcu not too much of a problem after picking up easy points last week at there new home ground ;-)

but BNU have a Miramar who need every point they can get as games are running out so i think if the weather is good on sunday i might take a trip into town to see if BNU wheels are falling off as the season closes as some have indicated previously …..

Wow. Huge result. Not too surprising though, Marist have seemed better than their position shows.

Does mean It's now Brooklyn's to lose. Need to check who they each have left...

it's what i expected as Marist (QPR) play on a surface that others cannot figure out as the are pampered with sand base and artificial fields.

look at there home record on grass vs the top 3 and others…..

home games on the ST pats turf not so hot…..

as for the race for top spots and promotion i think Miramar and Karori tomorrow may have some say in what happens next….

so don't count NW out of the race because of a hiccup
