today's result in cap 1 didn't help and with the swift's winning at the mighty alexmoore as well as NW…...
One point difference between UHC (8) and Tawa (9). Same GD. Both play Miramar and PNM in final 2 games
One_eyed_nik hopefully not. New reg about not grading down after playing 14 games at higher league should help stop it.
Great achievement for Miramar to win the Central League with three games to go, but not the first to do the double. (Sam Worthington's article).
Western Suburbs were champions the first two seasons of Central League, 1968 & 1969. Havent checked the final league tables for all the other seasons inbetween, but Ultimate Soccer has them all listed.
On both occasions Petone have played a hand in Miramar's clinching of the title . Last year they prevented Olympic winning it on goal difference on the last day, this year beating Napier over the weekend.
I guess they mean since CL was reinstated in 2004. Happened a handful of time before then.

Ahh. They mean the Modern Central League then, not The Central League. I understand.

Id like to know the ins and outs of this reg. Do you need to play a certain number of games for one team before you're officially part of that side? Or do they go simply by what team you register with at the start of the season? And if so, what's stopping half of the first team registering as Reserve players and playing out 18 rounds in CL, but therefore being registered Reserves still being allowed to drop down?

It's what games they play
so what's the happs with Central play-off participator?
Is Wanganui locked in? does Naki play them? Where does the Fed Cup Lge come into it?
In Federation League Cup games, Wanganui Athletic went top of group A with a high-scoring 5-3 win over Havelock North Wanderers while Marist Reserves beat Palmerston North Boys' High School 2-1 in a battle of the bottom-placed sides.
North End's erratic season continued when they held Central League promotion playoff-bound Team Taranaki to 2-2 in New Plymouth, though Taranaki remained top of group B on goal difference.

Pretty sure the Fed Cup is just a filler as Fed league is only 14 weeks with 8 teams.

So assume Wanganui are the central football representatives.
so is Coffin talking rubbish again?
Central League promotion playoff-bound Team Taranaki
What about Eastern teams who wants to have a crack?
Maybe Wanganui have passed on it?
Maybe Wanganui have passed on it?
good point.
The playoff tourny at the end is just a filler.
Wanganui, I believe, will lose a few players (returning home from overseas) and are likely to be a completely different squad next year. On top of that players, such as Kyle Graham-Luke, have buggered off.
Also $$$
So plenty of reason they may have stepped aside.
Still doesn't change the fact team taranaki in federation and/or central league is a joke.
wonder if that means they'll duck the 2k women's fine
Rapa had a big fine remitted when they defaulted the last game of a season to Wharf.

When were Rapa and Wharf ever in Central league together?
Prob in reply to feverish comments id imagine
Rapa default was not in CL. It was in the league below, whatever it was called then.
Wharf have never (sob) been in the current CL.

Pre the invention of barcodes I would think.
UHC might rate their chances for a point tomorrow. Get to play Miramar with a tonne of players involved with NZ A, and a week after claiming the title.
Tawa may also be a bit gutted that they have been moved from the Redwood carpet to Petone Turf for their game against Palmy...

Appeared not to help.

Last day of the season, can upper hutt take a point from palmy? providing miramar dispatch of tawa of course
hmm hang on the plot thickens..
Athletic may have scored a big win last weekend, but their performance on the pitch was possibly one of their worst the hallowed ground at Wembley has seen in some time.
The coaching staff of the Athletic team were well aware of this and will have worked the squad intensely over the last week as they build their preparations for their impending Central League play-off matches

The other Miramar...
I've been there
I've been there
I hope you're talking about the beach, or maybe not....
So I was up in Maidstone for a game and decided to stay and watch the Wairarapa vs Napier game. (sorry for lack of player names, but I only know Watson)
Napier opened the scoring in first couple of minutes and then Wairarapa replied almost straight away. About 5mins later Napier get a penalty which was a good decision as guy taken down in the box, guy only got a yellow which I also think was a good call as wasn't really last man. They put it away and it's 2-1.
Next was when the match started to get fun, linesman called Napier guy offside, however he was coming back and made no run for the ball, referee said play on but all the Wairarapa players stopped. Napier carried on playing and ball put back across box was sloted away. 3-1. It all blew up with Wairarapa players having a go at referee and lineman before Wairarapa coach was sent from the sidelines. Now this meant he stood behind the fence behind his bench... So as the game went on you could see and hear him still coaching.
Wairarapa fourth goal was a goal kick up the field, headed on by striker and 1v1 put away. Half time sees Napier leading 4-1 however Wairarapa didn't look out of it, just Napier took their chances.
I then made the mistake of going to get some food as when I got back it was now 4-3 with Wairarapa (Watson) scoring a penalty and apprently also scoring another stunner. As I'm getting told this Watson then gets his hat trick to make it 4 all. From there it was all Wairarapa in the second half, they had a goal called for offside, but a few minutes later they get their 5th and take the lead for the first time. After that some strong work from Watson sees him set up his team mates for the 6th and 7th goal.
Napier didn't know what hit them the second half and the half time talk must of been amazing to have them scoring six unanswered goals. Was a very entertaining match and I'm glad I stuck around.
Upper Hutt down after losing 5-3 to Marist. Pretty much sums up there season. Can score a few but concede far too many.
Can anyone tell me who is the Coach and players that make up the Central League 11 to take on the Phoenix this week?
Does anyone else thinks it's strange that this game is scheduled when the Champions (Miramar) won't have any players involved as they are playing in Napier.

Nathan Cooksley always looks like a street corner garden variety drug dealer. Some one should tell the boy to sharpen up.
Its the Rapa mate. He's just adhering to standard protocol
