Presumably have to convince Bill of that

It’s hard for a young CB to get game time. Almost certainly won’t get it off  the bench during a game unless there’s an injury. Ahead of him are 34 year old Timbers captain, well travelled Englishman Liam Ridgewell; and 24 year old Costa Rican international Julio cascante.

Bill is a 23 year old Centre Back (or 6). If he stays fit, and his attitude is right, he just needs to be patient.

Tuiloma or Ridenton would be better at the moment?

Beginning to come around to the idea that we should push for him for a starting role and sell that

Portland and Dallas draw 0-0.

Portland are 4th in Western Conference.

Tuiloma not in match day squad, nor did he play today for Portland II.

So possibly injured?

Released... that would bea  bit of a shock.

Seems to have done well with the limited time he's had and if he wanted to leave, why not wait til the end of the year when all the trades occur etc?

Is he unhappy about not getting a shot to play as a DM?

Would seem a strange decision to release a very useful utility player like Tuiloma now, approaching end of season playoffs.

Compounded by Ridgewell now coping a suspension.

Two key words here... "think" and "may".

My source is a good source, but has been wrong before. These are rumours that my source has heard, so I guess this is a rumour about a rumour :-). I wouldn't run with it all the way

I agree with others that it doesn't really make sense, unless he has grown genuinely frustrated at not playing that often despite doing well when asked to

Not playing for Timbers II today in Portland.

Probably means squat, but usually when he hasn’t played many first team minutes, he has then been given a game for their USL side, especially if they are playing at home.

Portland’s next MLS game is against RSL on Sunday night.

Journo please call the club, call his agent/manager or him.

Is he coming to Wellington?

Good chance of starting in an increasingly competitive league with home support.

How did the injury look? He got his chance with Ridgewell red-carded last week. He had managed to displace the captain earlier in the season. Now 4-1 up, on the road.

Finishes 4-1. Was 1-1 when Tuiloma came off.

Big result for Portland, should see them make playoffs now for sure.

Glimpse of Tuiloma rushing in to celebrate Timbers 3rd goal. Looks like he was holding his hammy.

Portland II beat Phoenix earlier today.

I note Tuiloma also didn't play in this game for Timbers II. Given the Timbers MLS side don't play 22nd October, would seem he's still carrying an injury.

Hopefully nothing serious and he can feature in playoffs for either/or MLS or ULS sides.

An unused sub as Portland beat RSL 3-0.

That result confirms Timbers in the MSL playoffs. So last regular season game Portland may rest a few regular starters and give Tuiloma a run. No matter what else happens is unlikely Timbers will get home playoff match.

Last game is against Vancouver.

Gets a rare start as Timbers travel to Vancouver.

His Whitecaps mate Marinovic in goal for Whitecaps.

Timbers maybe resting a few players today. Don’t think they have any chance of finishing in top 2 in Western Conference, and thereby avoiding the elimination round. Elimination games on Wed & Thurs, with 3rd hosting 6th and 4th hosting 5th.

Winners advance to 2 legged Conference semis verus 1st and 2nd in the Conference.

Timbers currently 5th, and at the moment would be travelling to Seattle for a elimination derby game. Colorado are today hosting Dallas in 3rd spot.

Tuiloma will be the only Kiwi in MLS playoffs.

At one stage in an early season round of the MLS, a total of 8 Kiwis started for their clubs.

90 mins for Tuiloma as Timbers lose 2-1 at Vancouver.

2 goals for Whitecaps wunderkid Alphonso Davies.

Looks like Portland (5th) will now travel to Dallas (4th) in elimination round.

Seattle won to overtake Dallas who lost to the Rapids.

From highlights looks like Vancouver dominated, and Tuiloma (number 25) was a busy boy in defence.

Big result for Portland and Tuiloma. A 2-1 win in Dallas to make Western Conference semis.

Timbers had a guy sent off at 58 mins, with Tuiloma immediately subbed on to protect a 1-0 lead.

Valeri then with a 2nd goal at 71 mins.

Dallas grab a goal at 94 mins, but home fans go home unhappy.

There was a lot of confusion in that last regular season game vs. the Whitecaps on the part of the media identifying players.

(Probably because the Timbers fielded so many reserves)

MLS Highlights Show this week on Duke identified Tuiloma as responsible for the error which gave away the second goal.

However, the local Vancouver newspaper identifies a different player as being responsible:

The Province: “He opened the scoring in the 28th minute in quintessential Davies style — he collected the ball in his own zone and turned on the afterburners. He blew past Portland’s Lawrence Olum like an afterthought, raced toward the box, cut in front of Bill Poni Tuiloma and hit a banger from the top of the circle past Jeff Attinella. Three minutes later, Timbers fullback Marco Farfan tried to control the ball in his own box, only to have Davies pick his pocket and score his second goal of the game.”

So, who's correct?

Farfan definitely makes the error for the 2nd goal. It's Tuiloma (no 25) lunging in too late to try and block Davies shot.

Maybe you could blame BT a somewhat for the first goal, but Davies is a future big star, and off to Bayern Munich at age 18.

Tuiloma got to play 30 mins against Dallas in the elimination game midweek, whilst Farfan wasn't in the match day squad if that means anything.

RSL have just beaten LAFC 3-2 (like Portland they won on the road) in the other Western Conference elimination game. Won after 8 mins of added time.

So looks like Timbers will play home & away against Seattle in their Conference semi playoffs now. Two big derby games in the Pacific North West. First game is in Portland on Monday morning NZ time, and with Mabiala suspended after his red card against Dallas, Tuiloma must be a good chance of starting the 1st leg.

2-1 Timbers at HT.

Great atmosphere in Providence Park, drums, fair number away Seattle fans etc

Late in half Tuiloma attacks a corner and causes head clash between 2 other players.

Finishes 2-1. Only saw last 60 mins but BT looked very assured and steady at CB. Bit of target man too for Timbers set pieces.

Still he’ll probably be benched for return leg on Friday in Seattle with Mabiala returning from suspension.

High drama. Seattle score a 2nd at 90 mins which made it 3-3 on aggregate - both teams an away goal each - so into extra time.

Then Timbers score a 2nd at 94 mins, to go 4-3 up on aggregate. Now Seattle with a pen at 97 mins, makes it 4-4 on aggregate, but I think Portland would go through on away goals (2-1?).

Tuiloma watching from the bench, and Timbers have used all their subs.
