Sadly didn't make the bench for cup game with Hoffenheim. His Bayern II teammates Zirkzee, Dajaku, Meier and Cuisance are all on the bench.

With Bayern up 4-1, both Zirkzee and Cuisance get 10 minutes. Only to see Hoffenheim score twice late to make it a 4-3 win in the end.

Is he injured?

Was training with the first team the other day, it's sometimes livestreamed which is pretty cool really. Looked like nothing was wrong with him

Copped a 2 game suspension for his straight red back in December. From the wording taken from DFB website I think he had to serve his suspension based on liga 3 matches rather than try get around it by being bumped into the first team to serve his suspension.

The sports court of the German Football Association (DFB) has blocked Sarpreet Singh from third division FC Bayern Munich II in a single judge proceeding after being charged by the DFB control committee for a raw game against the opponent with a suspension of two league championship games.

In addition, the player is blocked for all other championship games of his club until the suspension expires, in the Bundesliga at the latest until January 25, 2020 inclusive. Singh was sent off by referee Patrick Alt (Illingen) in the 40th minute of the third division game against Würzburg Kickers on December 22, 2019. The player or club has agreed to the judgment, the judgment is thus final.

Guess he could have played in the DFB Pokal against Hoffenheim recently, but will possibly be lacking a bit of match fitness due to his time off. Although with the translation probably not being entirely accurate I'm guessing he could've been available from January 25th. Who know's? Should get a run for BM II this weekend though.

And he's back! Albeit from the bench...

Straight back in to form too. Comes on just after the hour mark and grabs the go ahead goal within 5 minutes as BM II currently lead 2-1 at Viktoria Koln, about 10 left to play.

Wonder what would have happened if he was in Perth last night? Up against a great coach and a forbidding place to travel...

And a 2nd goal as well (94 mins) in a 4-2 win.

Very valuable 3 points to for BM II, against another side in Koln (16th) in danger of relegation. BM II (10th) now 8 pts above the drop zone.

Marinovic's old team Unterhaching are gunning for promotion to Liga 2, being 3rd.

He would've scored a hatty and we would've won 5-4. No doubt about it!

He would've had the Bayern Munich staff on the phone saying "What the hell are you doing in Australia?"

Again from this week's Flying Kiwis. Some interesting stuff on watching Bayern's big stars at work.

There have been a heap of interviews with and articles about Sarpreet Singh recently, from the local crew in Aotearoa to a handful of newspapers and websites from India. Too many to keep up with. But this exclusive yarn with Bundesliga.com was one of the best. Here’s a taster...

On making his Bundesliga debut:

The coach is never going to tell you if you're going to come on or not before a game. For me, it's like any other game I play. I don't change my routines or anything like that. It's important to be consistent, so I prepared in the same way as I have done for every other game in my career. That will never change. For me, it was an amazing feeling to make my debut. It was a dream come true. For someone of Indian background, growing up in New Zealand, it's quite a big moment, a special moment, and hopefully I can inspire the next generation of kids to work hard and push on to bigger and better things.”

On learning from the likes of Lewandowski and Coutinho:

Basically, I've learned what it takes to be a professional at this level. It's not easy. These guys don't become who they are without hard work. To be able to learn from the world's best players is really special. I continue to work hard and try and be like them. To have them in the dressing room, watch them play games, and play with them, is a dream come true, but at the same time, I'm here now, I have to try and push and compete with them. But I learn lots every day from these sorts of guys, and I try and add all that into my game.

[Lewandowski] knows how to score goals! His record is incredible, he's an absolute goalscoring machine. For me, it's great to learn about which part of the foot he uses and at what time in which situation, it does come down to specific small details like that. It's all about decision making. With Coutinho, I'm looking at what he does in tight spaces, how he scans over his shoulder and gets out of tight situations. I play number 10 too, so there is no-one better to learn from than Coutinho.”

On the future of the All Whites:

I think we're on the right track. The players coming through and the set-up we have, it's going in the right direction. Hopefully in the future we can make the World Cup, I certainly believe that. The way we're playing, and the players that we're producing, they want to play good football, they're brave in possession. The coach is also trying to drive that, change the environment and the way we play, because we feel we've got the players now. We've got Winston [Reid], Woodsy [Chris Wood], Ryan [Thomas], players playing at a good level. I think it's possible for us to change how we play now, and I think that's happening in New Zealand too. We're on the right path, and hopefully you'll see us at the next World Cup.”

"Our aim is to bring through players from our own ranks, and we now have four players permanently with the first team: [Joshua] Zirkzee, [Leon] Dajaku, [Olivia] Batista-Meier and Singh," Hainer said.

"All four will become Bundesliga players, I back myself to predict that. Some of them can also make it at Bayern."

Not in match day squad as Bayern travel to Köln in Bundesliga.

Bayern with a win will go top, in a very tight Bundesliga race. Top 5 teams currently within 5 points of each other.

Bayern II play in Liga 3 tomorrow.

Subbed after 64 mins in a 6-1 win over Hallescher FC, in Liga 3. Picked up a yellow, so they may have been behind his early subsitution.

BM II up 3-1 when he came off. His replacement Jeong Woo-Yeong.

Kiss of death, but BM II looking good to avoid relegation. Won their last 5 games.

Move into 8th, and 9 points clear of the drop zone. 14 rounds to go.

Yeah likely also because Hallescher's only goal came directly from Singh making a mistake in possession, something he has done a few times now.

Bayern stay first.

Concerning thing about that is Singh had six of his Bayern II teammates on the bench for that fixture, and he wasn't among them

he coughs the ball up too much in key areas, will not make the grade if he does not improve this

that's not the point, he has had a fantastic season and super development.

The issue is what does he need to do to get into the first team/ have a top league club come in for him on loan for games in a better league.  With those mistakes, particularly if he is doing it often, will cause him to not make that grade as I said.

Sarpreet is not the type to fight in training for his place, moreso he will show his quality to get into the side.  If/when he goes on loan to a top club/gets into the Bayern first team consistently for match days, this will be his biggest challenge.

LOLbit early to be thinking about any of that stuff. From every thing I have seen they seem to be happy with how he is progressing. Yet back here in NZ we just love to make sure them poppies don't get to big. Adesanya was on the mark   with his comments. Could maybe understand the comments if he had been there for a couple years but come on.

Disagree with this. We wanna see him succeed at the highest level. With the youth being churned up at such a pace in Europe Sarpreet can't afford very many errors. This is being clearly reflected by him not being selected lately.

Rubbish they might churn through youth in Europe but cant see them discarding him so quickly after including in so early on. Love it how people here in NZ no just what a club is thinking in Europe about their youth players.

Absolute worse case scenario; he leaves Bayern and...joins another good European club? Seems like he'll be fine to me

I was not implying he would be discarded, rather, he could potentially lose his place in the hierarchy to other up and comers. Anyways, he is a talented guy who has done a lot already. He just needs to work on his possession game better and I am confident he will.

Boss at BM said recently that the 4 young players (incl Singh) bought into the BM first team late last year, were all forecast to have good careers in the Bundesliga.

Just that not all of them would be at Bayern long term, ie some would highly likely end up at other top flight German clubs (if they stay in Germany).

Singh's progress for last 1-2 months, seems to have been a little thwarted by the German winter break, and then serving his suspension. Small hiccup on the long long pro road ahead.

72 mins in a 1-0 loss at Doyle’s old side Chemnitzer.

Wriedt sent off in first half (39th min) for BM II. Straight red.

I guess all of the youngsters will sit on bench for a few games, none of them are really coming on for more than 10 minutes, if they are lucky. That Bayern squad it stacked with stars and only the impatient reading a problem into Singh situation.

One thing that would worry you if you're Singh is that all those guys who were on the bench over the weekend are younger than Sarpreet (mostly 18/19, and a couple who are 20). At 21 Singh's wriggle room as a promising player with potential is getting smaller by the minute.

just as an aside, that might be the worst red card decision I've ever seen a referee make
