So people really try and convince you to change phones?

Why?

Its a classic example of banter that people take too seriously.

It's really commonplace for phone brand/OS to be used as an icebreaker, like "eww why do you use android/apple" and then jokes ensue.  Others took that stuff too seriously and it became an actual characteristic they like/dislike in people.  Its silly really but for most its light hearted banter based on what happened in the early samsung/apple smartphone days.

For example at my work I get astronomical amounts of shark for not being an apple user, and its nothing more than light hearted work [place banter, and I get immense satisfaction firing the shark back when their iDevices don't do something.

Its the same as the PC Master Race.  To most its an ironic joke, to a handful of users who missed the memo its a fact.

So yeah...looking for an argument it is.

"I saw someone complain about someone doing something then proceeded to do it themselves."

This was in place to emphasize how annoying I find it when someone gets stuck in when it's not their place to open their gobs - fine, think it, internalize it, but why bring it up. I'm not actually likely to fire back with the written response, I'mm more like to tell them "I'm not interested, fudge off..." but the creative writing was an expression of frustration and a touch of humor.

I think you've deliberately taken something that was a harmless rant and turned in around to deliberately provoke. I'm not sure if you're bored, had a bad day or if you're simply a troll but it's ridiculous.

Wasn't actually looking for an argument.

Like I said its a pet peeve of mine, watching people take the eye for an eye attitude, you doing exactly what you are complaining about others doing, so I spoke up. I should have known not to speak up, after all as you say, criticizing him for what he wears is funny to you, you should have just said that and the conversation could have ended there and I shouldn't have mentioned in the things that [piss me off thread something that pisses me off, because that makes me a troll, bored or having a bad day and it being ridiculous to do so.

Fudgeing hell you must hang around some right sad acts if that's a regular starting point for a conversation.

Pfft no different to any other generic small talk.  I've heard plenty of people saying talking about sports/video games/many other topics as being "sad" to talk about too.  Interests some, doesn't interest others, is funny to some, isnt funny to others, same old really isnt it?

I usually find really young techie guys or older managers tend to make jokes about phone brands as a convo starter but that's anecdotal from 3 companies over a decade so maybe I've just been at the only 3 companies that have people who like that banter.

Just calling out one of my pet peeves. Isn't that what it's about? I could have just left it, accepted it for what it is, but instead decided to make a big deal out of it.

Yea you could have but you decided to write a post about it then do the thing you were complaining about, so it is what it is I guess.

I'm not sure you know what a mic is.  Its short for microphone and its the thing you speak in to.  So if you dropped the mic it would likely mean you have finished talking.

As you are no longer listening but are still talking I would suggest you may have actually dropped the headphones.

Shall I give you all 40c to call someone who gives a fudge? Oh wait. Would that be seen as me trying to push my anti-android, anti-apple, pro-pay phone adenda?

I miss the anonymity of payphones! ?

Don't get me started - 40c? Back in my day...

Can you still buy phone cards? Can't remember the last place I saw a pay phone - outside Westfield in Lower Hutt I think.

I tend to just ignore them and they go away. I have been told once at an event "Eww, they let you in with that?", I contemplated mentioning something about sheep but I didn't care enough, either platform gets the job done so who cares.

Payphones are everywhere, which is good because they're also wireless hot spots.

Was watching Millionaire Matchmaker with the lady tonight and the topic of "Who's your Celebrity crush?" came up.

Apparently it is perfectly acceptable for her to have a crush on George Clooney but quite unacceptable for me.

Well dont ask the question if you dont want to hear the answer!!!

When your boss thanks you for "really stepping up" last week when another staff member was away on annual leave.

Ummm, in case you didnt notice I work fudgeing hard all the time and didnt really step up as much as I stepped across to cover someone elses role.

Is it wrong to feel insulted?

I'm from Otago and all season long we were first in the Mitre 10 Cup/NPC Championship. We end the regular season with 7 wins and 3 losses, defeat Bay of Plenty in the semifinal and then proceed to throw it all in the trashcan in the final vs North Harbour. The Otago players kicked the ball way too much and were disappointing throughout. In the second half the coach subs off our kicker and subs on a first five with a Beauden Barrett-esque kicking percentage who proceeds to blow it. This whole season goes to waste because of this garbage performance in the final; we choked harder than the Wellington Lions ffs.

Now there's 3 bloody Auckland teams in the Mitre 10 Cup Premiership next season...

South Otago has the Catlins, Dunedin is an awesome city with a beautiful train station and culture, North Otago has the Moeraki Boulders, and Queenstown (not sure if it's Central) has ski slopes, a gondola and is an amazing place for a vacation!

Wait is this too positive for this thread??
