Yeah, I wouldn't read too much into 8.30am timing. Presumably team is off to Adelaide in the afternoon, so that's most likely reason behind timing and they're no doubt staying over the ditch for WSW game too.

And, most likely to be TAHW and Gulley signings. Agree, good stuff. Now for the quality import to join them.

You just think that with TAHW and Gulley, we'll be getting even further competition within the squad.

The boys are humming now and I read a post match piece with Durante saying the squad is 'United' - Rudan really went there with it from day one and it's worked.

Add a quality import and we'll be a good chance to have an iconic year, I haven't felt like this for seasons. Plus the football is now a joy to watch.

Great time to be a Nix supporter.

They usually say player announcement when unveiling new players, this may not be a signing at all.

Andrew Voerman chucked out as pure speculation, it could be something like the Chinese team coming to play a friendly during the split rounds in March.

So perhaps more likely some squad NZ players.

From what I can see of him he's everything we don't have - massive strong unit who has a good shot and can dominate defenders in the air. He also doesn't seem too slow. Definitely not fast, but not too slow. Doesn't look like a complete donkey on the ball like a lot of other big strikers. Was really surprised, but really excited to see what he can do for us

Absolute banter merchant on his twitter and Instagram too. Bit of a different type of footballer. Think he'll suit us well.

just watched some more of his play, good god he looks a nightmare to mark when crosses are coming in. He can also absolutely leather them in from the penalty spot, so it looks like we have a good pen taker

Not quite some of the big names that were being bandied around earlier but still looks like he'll do a job for us. Wonder if he'll be in the squad for Saturday.

Highlights packages are just that, the best bits, but this guys looks like he can really play. He could be just what we need and will certainly bring a new dimension to our attack. Reminds me a bit of Chris Wood.

The YouTube clip makes me think an Irish AK9 ... Hopefully he is far more mobile up front than AK9 was.

Now we have a tall target man, hopefully it means we stop fluffing around with short corners, and just put them straight in the box.

Here's a decent Guardian article about him from 2017. One of the games he played against Messi he told him to f*ck off!

Short corners do my head in, swear they very rarely work. I think it overcomplicated thiggs for a simple person like a footballer.

Anyway, was decently thought of in scotland then I have to admit I'd forgotten about him. Highlight reels are obviously going to show the best of their ability but hey ho, if he's as good as any of that we've done well. Welcome aboard plan B!

Wow - someone for Cacace to properly aim crosses at now!

In all seriousness, he has a great goals/game ratio for a big guy - wonder if he's familiar with Kopa?

just like Rudan has said all alaong he is always looking for a chance to improve our options, this guys gives us just that. A massive unit up front to play a proper centre forward role. He'll have the likes of Krishna, williams and burns tearing around him looking for lay offs, but he'll also take two men with him for a while giving space to singh etc in the midfield. Plan A or B he just gives oppostions something else to think about, rather than working on how to defend our pace they now have size and power to think about.

AK was a god with his head but had nothing else really. Cillian is half a foot taller than Kalu and way stronger, so I'm hopeful he can have a much better impact.

Suspect that this relegates Williams to impact role off the bench, and Burns possibly out if the match day squad.

I'm not convinced he is the tall centre forward people seem to think he is. In some ways, I hope he isn't. Because if we start to play with a traditional #9, then we probably need to move to 4-3-3. Not sure our squad can handle that. Krihsna would need to player wider, Fenton would need to do more defensive work, and Dura would need to cover more area in the back line with only 4 back there.

Watching the goal videos, he seems to have a little of Steven Adams in him with the beard and long hair combo too

If Cillian is playing centre it hardly replaces what Burns was supposed to be doing on the left wing. In fact it may allow Burns to have an outlet for his passes without the burden of expectation to score as well.  Player rotation may actually be meaningful now (yellow cards, injuries) and not a disaster.

Sail Doyle Nichols Williams Burns on the bench? That covers pretty much all but RWB and gives you some attacking options to sub on.

I think they should start him for WSW game and maybe have him on the bench for the Adelaide game.

he said he prefers to play CF in his presser - although Rudan chimed in saying he'd seen him playing as a LW. Said he has the pace and mobilty to play anywhere. We currently play with 2 up front and Rudan has said the same in the presser. I'd expect to see him come off the bench instead of Burns/Williams against Adelaide, given Williams has scored in the last two we may see Burns given a break from gameday to go find his shooting boots.

Nichols rather than Burgess or THW (assuming he's signed)? Something's clearly up with Nichols.

Sorry i probably didn't word that as well as I should. I don't think he is the a target man kind of striker. Seems quite mobile in those clips, and Rudan said in the presser he's pretty quick. So I'm not sure his arrival should mean we move to a front three. If anything, I think he's competing with Williams and Burns for that second striking place with Krishna.

Though it might be us some more flexibility to play with a front 3 if we are chasing a game etc.
