Have to say it's pretty disillusioning seeing this new rule in action. I am unconvinced that this alleged deliberate cheating by defenders has become so sophisticated and widespread that it needed the rule to be changed to such an extent.

In a highly physical, mobile game like football where things are happening at lightning speed it's just not possible for a defending player to foresee situations whereby a ball might make contact with an arm that isn't locked down by their side, nor is it even possible to change your arm position most of the time.  As Ella in the pod says, "it's literally physics!".

Yeah, have to say I'm a bit concerned too. The handball that led to Toivonen's pen last night looked tough - what was defender supposed to do at that speed? Having said that, no question that ball hit his hand, but I'm not convinced it could be called deliberate.

Really enjoyed that, would like to echo the sentiments of others.  Great news that Libby has another year, so at least protects the club. Best case scenario he performs well again and he leaves next winter with a healthy fee for the club.

But the football committee at the Nix don't know what they are doing according to posters on this forum!

We've finished once in the top half of the table in the last seven seasons. Pretty big gamble relying on so may young players, even though it's an exciting squad. It's fair to say the jury is still out

I think we've done about as well as we could've with the situation we've been given.

Keen to listen to Gilly, but a 1 hr 15 min pod is a bit intimidating.  Maybe a bit shorter in future?

It's hard when we have a guest like Gilly on who's wanting to chat about lots of things, and then have to do the normal podcast thingsafter they've left. Generally we try to stick to an hour max.

But as Christo says, Gilly is just the first 30 minutes and then it's back into normal A-League chat.

With Gary Hooper joining the Nix this weekend, the pod look at what he can bring to the team that was lacking in the loss to Sydney, and whether he'll get gametime against the Distance Derby rivals, Perth. Elsewhere, Danny Hay has appointed his All Whites assistants, and the NWL continues with a double round.

A dodgy lack of red card contributes to the Nix going down 2-1 in the first Distance Derby of the season, can they get their first points of the season in Melbourne this weekend? Another round of the NWL has been played with Capital scoring big, and the Handy Prem kicks off.

It won't take long to discuss the VAR incident, I think Louis said it best and probably won't need much expanding on.

Double episode this week!

The Nix get screwed over by a terrible VAR lack-of-intervention, and Louis Fenton says it as it is. The All Whites squad to take on Ireland and Lithuania has been announced, and Canterbury United dispatched Capital in the NWL.

https://www.podomatic.com/podcasts/thekidsareallwhite/episodes/2019-11-07T06_08_24-08_00

Scott Hales, head coach of Team Wellington, joins the pod as the ISPS Handa Prem gets underway. We chat about whats ahead for the season, getting a win under the belt first up, and what José moving to Auckland will mean for the league as a whole.

Good pod thanks Patrick, really interesting to get done off the inner workings of teedubs.

FYI at about 14 mins in you've got two tracks overlapped.

They advanced to the knockout stage in 2015. 2-1 win over Paraguay, 0-0 draw with Syria and 6-1 loss to France. Hammered 6-0 in round of 16 by Nigeria.
