""It's been a good week in terms of our planning with confirmation of the Solomon Islands for the OFC Nations Cup and now these two matches," said All Whites coach Ricki Herbert.
"The US tour will provide valuable preparation for some of our players who will be out of season, and given the geographical spread it is also an opportunity to work with an extended group in the build-up to the Solomons," Herbert continued.
"To get two international matches of this stature is crucial to our preparation for the Solomons in terms of the heat and getting through international matches with a short rest period between matches. We could then look to continue our preparation in a place like Brisbane en-route to the islands," Herbert added.
MANILA (10 Dec 2011) The Philippines national team are looking at taking on either Malaysia or Vietnam in a friendly in February following the withdrawal of New Zealand.
Initially, the Philippines were hoping that they can play New Zealand as part of their preparation for the AFC Challenge Cup in Kathmandu, Nepal but the Kiwis have turned it down citing prior engagement.

Fark not going to be able to have a long lunch to watch the El Salvador game, but least I'll be home to watch the Honduras game on the Sunday. Awesome name for a stadium too - Cotton Bowl!

Last midday fixture played in Merica was broadcast live on sky (i remember as i went home from work sick to watch it at the pub), as was a previous late afternoon/early evening fixture (both vs. Mexico)
edit: and besides didnt Sky and NZF sign a new agreement not so long ago that they would now show all games live? Im sure i saw this on the YF homepage at some stage

IIRC, the deal was all home games, and Round 2 of World Cup qualifiers.

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

Is there a point in possibly playing T&T when we can't possibly meet them in a play-off?

China v New Zealand ??
China vs New Zealand. That will be a good match if confirmed on 14 November.
We played China last year. What has happened to rescheduling the Japan game?
Is there a point in possibly playing T&T when we can't possibly meet them in a play-off?

Cheers Pete!
I seem to recall an article I read somewhere recently talking about how Panama have an exciting crop of young players coming through - could be a worry too. Still, at least we got drawn against CONCACAF and not CONMEBOL for the playoffs...

Yeah, Trinidad & Tobago were so crap they failed to make the third round of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying- they're on to their third round of qualifying already (12 teams left in three groups of four). SEE:

THIRD ROUND CONCACAF QUALIFYING STARTS NEXT SATURDAY 9 JUNE (NZ TIME)
Remaining teams from which NZ will play fourth best: first round of stage three qualifiers:
08/06/12 14:00 Havana Cuba v Canada /
08/06/12 19:00
Mexico City Mexico v Guyana /08/06/12 19:11
Tampa USA v Antigua and Barbuda/08/06/12 19:30
San Pedro Sula Honduras v Panama /08/06/12 20:00
San Jose Costa Rica v El Salvador /08/06/12 20:30
Kingston Jamaica v GuatemalaFOURTH ROUND CONCACAF QUALIFYING
The fourth round will see the 3 group winners and 3 runners-up from the third round compete in a single group. The matches are scheduled to be played from 6 February to 15 October 2013.
The top three teams will qualify directly for the 2014 FIFA World Cup finals, while the fourth-placed team will enter the intercontinental play-offs.
The way the three Stage Three qualifying grups are composed, it's likely USA, Mexico and Panama will win their groups, whilst I predict Jamaica, Costa Rica and Honduras will be the three group runners-up who will make the Fourth Round.
In the end, I predict Mexico, USA and Costa Rica will qualify directly (top three teams), leaving the All Whites to play off against either Panama, Jamaica or Honduras - and we've played two of those recently...
World Rankings: El Salvador: 49 , Jamaica: 51, Panama: 52, Costa Rica: 59, Honduras: 62, Canada: 75, Guatamala: 83
Panama and Costa Rica are of similar ability but I like the look of Costa Rica- their loss to Guatamala on Saturday was their first in eight matches and they've drawn with world champions Spain, beaten the USA and lost only 1-0 to Brazil over the last year or so. Costa Rica have a strong squad with the best overseas-based players of any in Central America- Bryan Ruiz (Fulham), Joel Campbell (Arsenal), goalie Navas (Levante, Spanish La Liga), several in Scandinavia and in MLS. They made the 2002 and 2006 World Cups too.
Some recent friendly results involving these teams: Note Honduras thrashed El Salvador 3-0 yesterday.

New Zealand will play a CONCACAF side for 2014 now.
We haven't got through Oceania yet. We drew with the Soloman Islands today 1-1. This is not a sure thing. Can we stop jinxing ourselves
I prodict that New Zealand will win 4-0 in the semi, Wood (2), Smeltz and Killen to score then New Zealand-Solomon Islands final 2-1 New Zealand Smeltz to score 2 goals. Smeltz will break Conveys 28 goal record by 2013.

In football you never know what is happening around the corner.
Any news about the fixtures for 2012?
I do think New Zealand will play China on 14 November.
