So is it Tzanev or N Boxall who is the anti vaxxer? My money on Tzanev.
It could well be both of them.

Would say so too, but then again, that's their choice. Either way, it just means we're unlikely to see them in the national team setup for the foreseeable future.

Dalton Wilkins is a shout as well given he has played since the last internationals. Anyone familiar with Declan Edge's social media output wouldn't be surprised if one of his proteges didn't get vaxxed.

To be fair, those two were the only ones in Bahrain not to get any minutes across either game, so they’re probably low down the pecking order anyway, especially considering A League guys aren’t in yet.

Also, does anyone know where Kalua is trialling at?

He’s in a low-end Danish third tier team and not starting, its possible, but I reckon its more likely he’s just been dropped for De Vries who’s playing left-back every week for the best team in Sweden’s second tier

NZRU only has about 6 teams to pick from.

Maybe NZF shouldn't employ so many people in areas that don't need them.
Central football have about 4 people doing what only 10 years ago I person was doing.

Maybe the reason we are seeing a clear improvement in the quality of our players is because we arent understaffing the game.

Sorry should have been more specific and said was Administrator and not technical

Seems to be a leader at his club and a popular guy. All this doom and gloom, and uncertainty, and being a long way from family would and should shake anyone up.
If it’s true it’s a pity, cos we need defensive depth!

Utterly stupid from Hay. Out someone as anti-vaxxed and they don't pick three players so all are under the spotlight. I got no time for anti-vaxers, but if Hay didn't say anything initially and then just said Tzanev wasn't available for personal reason then noone would be the wiser and Boxall and Wilkins would have had their name in the mud.

Oh, did Hay openly say it was an anti-vaxxer? Or did he say that the certain player wasn’t vaccinated at this point in time?

So Hay hasn’t outed anyone as Anti-Vax?

Maybe the player in question might be in the process of getting their vaccination and could’ve been single doses, but fully yet. Or just hadn’t got it yet.

Why are there assumptions about them being anti-vaxx? Again just asking a question here

So we don’t actually know much at all and we’re just throwing accusations that the coach has said the player is anti-vaxx?

That’s poor form.

Just being honest here, being anti-vaxx is currently seen as a negative connotation in today’s society.

I’m not saying they’re bad people, people are allowed to decide whether they can be vaccinated or not.

In this current situation what we know:

- The player in question just wasn’t selected as UAE’s rules require you to be fully vaccinated.

- The player in question was either one of three players

What we DON’T KNOW:

- If the player is in the process of getting vaccinated

- If the player is Anti-vaxx

Take it as you will, but it’s piss poor to throw accusations that Hay outed the player as Anti-Vaxx.

This is most likely the reason why NZF decided not to name the player as it is a privacy breach and let’s say it is Boxall or Tzanev, how much criticism would that player receive if they were named?

All that’ll do is deter the player from ever representing the All Whites again.

And the only place once again throw the blame on is NZF, which it shouldn’t be.

NZF have done the right thing here.

He said "Over here they are really quite strict on vaccinations and getting into the country and needing to be double-vaxxed and at this stage there is a player that hasn't had that, and so we won't be able to select them at this point in time,"

Didn't say anti-vax. Just said what was happening

Hay's comment seems fine.

I'm sure the players who are vaccinated are probably glad Tzanev isn't sharing a plane/accommodation, etc, with them in close proximity, so unless he gets Vaccinated who cares if he makes himself available again.

He can go hang out with Stensness for all I care.

Agree the whole discussion is pissing me off as well tbh.

NZF and the All Whites haven't done any wrong here and in fact Hay is quite neutral about it and appreciating it's the players' personal decision.

Nobody knows his reasons for not being vaccinated and I'm still in the camp that it's not really of any of our business... let's hope that he can still play a role in our setup for years to come.

Player X may not be open about it, but if you've had the chance to get vaccinated in the UK for the past 9 or so months, and you haven't done so,  there's a good chance you're probably opposed to vaccinations.

Yeah, I'm really disappointed in Tzanev, who's been in the UK during their COVID nightmare and got to see all the carnage close up. Brits and people living there keep crowing about how "we're going back to normal" but unless "normal" means "mass deaths", it has to mean mass vaccination.

Reading the article, it seems 'Player B' wasn't in the last squad. So, could be any US or European-based player.....your Wynne, Musa, Billingsley, Stevens, Themi, Scimia, Crocombe, Thomas, etc etc. Or even an "eligible to play for New Zealand" player.

The Gambia. Proper little despot nation (or they were for a long while). But no time for politics. A neighbour from our farming area in the Rapa, actually weirdly ended up 2IC to the British Ambassador there upon a time. Followed his Czech partner who worked there for an NGO, and just approached the Embassy for a job as bored.

Despite their low ranking have some guys at a useful level. A lot in Italy, incl Serie A. One at Roma. NZP will be pleased. But none that I can see so far playing in the UK, which is interesting for an English speaking African nation.

Barrow will probably be the best player on the field (maybe bar Wood) if he plays. He's fast, good on the ball. 25 goals in 100 Serie A appearances at 22 is nothing to scoff at. Colley (Sampdoria) will be the best defender on the field since Reid isn't playing and they have a couple of very pacey wingers that can cause problems. Other than that they're pretty light.

Our lack of depth at RB could be a big problem, I can picture whoever ends up there just getting rinsed for pace. Overall a pretty even matchup, maybe Gambia slight favourites?

I see people worried about our RB depth a lot, but it isn't a problem at all imo

Barrow's gonna be a massive challenge for our CB pairing though, definitely a contender for best player on the pitch.
