All Whites 95th in the world now

From an All Whites perspective, I guess there is a case for saying that the rankings mean nothing. With Oceania being what it is, it's not like the AWs need to worry too much about seedings within qualification groups. If Oceania were to merge with Asia, it would matter; the rankings were used to determine which nations received byes through to the first group stage.

95th in the world as of 17th Dec.
Saudi Arabia still 5th in Asia. No major changes....due to teams not playing many games.

I say tackle him in the face.

I think you are kidding yourself.
The Greeks are on another planet compared to the AW's.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

LOL is that what u think? Australia made them look like a bunch of Thai GoGo girls afew years back, And yes the Greeks have done very well but its not like they are Brazil. Where were they in the last World cup?
Again they have achived some great things, But i wouldnt ride-off the AW`s if they did have a friendly match.

Wouldn't be a contest. Greeks are aeons ahead of the All Whites, as are Australia.

Just as well I am not alone on this. I thought I was the only one sober.
It is one thing to be patriotic but being realistic is another

You're not alone, it's just that a few tend to 'slightly' overestimate the AW ability and competetivenss.

Yes u guys are both right, My comment is The AW`s could compete with the Greek national team. On what basses? The fact that in most high profile games they have deliver the goods and not become fish bait to sharks. Another thing is Greeks have African blood pumping through there hearts, Which helps with playing football, What was once blond hair&Blue eyes became Dark skin and black hair. I prefer Kiwifruit then Canto lope.

When, exactly, have the AWs played a high profile game, let alone been competetive in it?

Greece were a lot closer to the last world cup than the AWs were. And the one before that. And the one before that. And the one.....

I hate to say it, but Greece would most likely thrash NZ. They're a decent team full of seasoned professionals used to playing together. We have a mix of professionals and amateurs and the AWs rarely get to play - though the Nix are helping to bring 5 or so into a regular playing unit.

Just a small point of note!
The 5th ranked team in Asia at the moment is SaudI Arabia...anyhow they played a friendly against Syria who are ranked 10th or there abouts....and lost 3-1, at home!

Asia to me seems a real gamble.

I say tackle him in the face.

*Cough cough*

Ranking does mean something!! We need a FIFA ranking of at least 80 to get players the work visas to playing in the UK. The home office does not easily accept players that have only NZ passport and not British Passport and it does not matter if you are a regular AW player either. Remember that Wynton Rufer had a month trial with Norwich City but the Home office turn him down his work visa despite the Norwich City's plea. there is a need for players to have access to higher football leagues. A-league is simply cannot compare to the EPL and the championship division is the easily the best level two division in europe, if not the world.AllWhitebelievr2008-01-18 03:05:01
