Thinking WeeMac may be injured.

Roux is a Kiwi.

Not sure why you'd make the snide insinuations Reid or Smith will miss the game

I don't understand the Ingham reports, as I can't see where they fit.

Snide?  I really don't think so. Smith is not match fit yet after his injury and Winston is as bad as Ryan for crying injury when the AWs play on our side of the world.

Smith played this weekend and will play the next two, and his return is what Hudson refers to when he says this squad will be his 'strongest ever'. Smith also told Ipswich media he wants to be picked.

No doubt Reid has missed a lot, but the only one that's anywhere near dodgy is ONC 2012. The rest are all legit, and AFAIK he has no issues at the moment. Cynical in the extreme to anticipate one.

Pick Dane Ingham, play him against Fiji so we can cap tie him.

He's 17 and playing Senior level. Didn't feature in the last two games for the Roar.

Seems like a decent product from the Roar academy. I haven't seen him play myself, but I mean, if he is only 17, and everything goes right for him e.g. no injuries like Henry Cameron, then I guess he might be a player worth investing our time in.

I did say in a previous post, if he does tie his allegiance to NZ, he has a lot coming up for him this year, being eligible for U-20 World Cup and possibly Confeds if he is good enough.

Henry Cameron wasn't fit in the US and got subbed after coming on. I think he misses out for Jai Ingham on the basis that he's really struggled to return from the injury.

Cameron is gone, his inury did no good, he can't even get game time at a struggling Blackpool. Becuase of that he is now on loan to a conference team. Woudn't you rather pick an A league prospect over a confrence player? In My opinion it is worth one sport for Dane Ingham so he can be cap tied against fiji so aussie won't get him.

Really sad about the Cameron situation. I honestly thought he would have been a bright prospect in the squad. It's amazing how much an injury can damage a player. But yes, agreed about Ingham, give him a go.

Its sad to think that playing for his country in a friendly has potentially ruined his career before it really even got started.  A huge loss for him, Blackpool and us.

BUT he's still quite young so might yet turn things around.

It must be more attractive for Dane to play for NZ at both u-20 and senior level rather than #FailingOzYouthPrograms.

Australia just aren't making the grade at youth level anymore and haven't qualified for any FIFA age group tournaments (u-20's, Olympics etc.) for a while.

Australia failed to qualify for this year's FIFA u-20 World Cup in May in South Korea (Iran, Vietnam, Saudis and Japan qualified from AFC to join hosts Korea). They didn't make it to NZ in 2015 either.

Dane was part of a Joeys training camp a month ago preparing for AFC qualifiers in October for the 2019 FIFA u-20 World Cup.

If you were Dane, you may well think  "Stuff playing for Australia u-20 later this year when they might not even qualify for the 2019 u-20 World Cup. I'm jumping ship to NZ so I can play in this year's FIFA u-20 Finals in Korea. And this bloke Hudson has said he'll give me a run for the NZ senior team. And my brother has also decided to join the NZ senior squad. Cool !!!"

The draw hasn't been made yet, but if Dane plays for NZ u-20's in Korea in October, he could be up against confirmed qualifiers Argentina, Uruguay, England, Germany, Italy, France, Portugal or Mexico.

Apparently:

http://www.a-league.com.au/article/the-hyundai-a-l...

"The Ingham brothers – Jai and Dane: According to a report in Thursday’s Herald Sun newspaper, the Victory winger is set to be included in the NZ squad as well as his 17-year-old brother Dane, who has made a handful of appearances at Brisbane Roar, including a stunning goal in Perth."

Also tipped on the A-League website to be selected by Hudson:

From the Wellington Phoenix: Keeper Glen Moss, defender Andrew Durante, winger Kosta Barbarouses, left-back Tom Doyle, Michael McGlinchey, Louis Fenton, Matthew Ridenton and Shane Smeltz

Victory's Marco Rojas, Mariners' Storm Roux

Thoughts on this?

Goalkeepers

Stefan Marinovic (SpVgg Unterhaching, Germany)
Jake Glesson (Portland Timbers, USA)
Glen Moss (Wellington Phoenix, New Zealand)

Defenders
Andrew Durante (Wellington Phoenix, New Zealand)
Thomas Doyle (Wellington Phoenix, New Zealand)
Michael Boxall (SuperSport Utd, South Africa)
Kip Colvey (San Jose Earthquakes FC, USA)
Themi Tzimopoulos (PAS Giannina FC, Greece)
Storm Roux (Central Cost Mariners, AUS)
Tommy Smith (Ipswich Town, England)

Midfielders
Clayton Lewis (Auckland City FC, New Zealand)
Michael McGlinchey (Wellington Phoenix, New Zealand)
Moses Dyer (Eastern Suburbs AFC, New Zealand)
Ryan Thomas (PEC Zwolle, Netherlands)
Bill Tuiloma (Marseille, France)
Dane Ingham (Brisbane Roar, AUS)

Forwards
Kosta Barbarouses (Wellington Phoenix, New Zealand)
Chris Wood (Leeds Utd, England)
Monty Patterson (Ipswich Town FC, England)
Marco Rojas (Melbourne Victory FC, Australia)
Jai Ingham (Melbourne Victory, AUS)

- I don't think reid will wan't to play these games and West Ham is far more important to him than Fiji

- I chose Dane becuase of reports but is 50/50

- I reckon Jai is a certain

- And chose Dyer becuase Hudson will pick him, we all know that. (would rather have Chris James but unsure if he has had contact with him)

- Lewis has done well recently scroing alot and some are quality, would be great to give him a chance.

I think your selection is probably close to Hudson's.

But Deklan Wynne may be included - and maybe Smeltz?

Smeltz would be good for his experience and there's no way Hudson can chose Fallon now that he's not playing - so Smeltz could take over Fallon's "old man of the team who can still play a bit" role.

It seems doubtful that McGlinchey will be selected if he's not fit enough to appear for the Phoenix.

I reckon that Reid will play - he's fit isn't he and I think he will play all this year's internationals, even the friendlies....

If McGlinchey isn't fit the Chirs James is a good shout now he is playing in a decent league. Maybe give a player from SSP a shout, I would love to see Tom Jackson a go.

Not sure on reid tbh, do u really think that he want's to leave to come to Fiji when West Ham are in a tough spot at the moment?

Is Tom Jackson NZ eligible? Here, for eg, his Fifa nationality is England: https://www.oceaniafootball.com/cms/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Team-Wellington-Group-B-OCL.pdf

Reid will be available unless he's injured, everyone with a conspiracy theory about him 'not wanting to' or "West Ham are in a tough spot' is being ridiculous.

Tom Jackson has spent 5 + years in NZ and has not represented England, should be fine all he needs is NZ citizenship.

Has he though? Transfermarkt includes a US team in his history. Would mean no clean 5 years since 18 (similar issue to de Vries/Musa)

He did, so using that as a reason for why he might not make it is fine.

"West Ham are in a tough spot" or "It's Fiji" are not.

"easily qualifies" to any sane person and to Fifa are two different things. Every indication is they've failed in getting an exemption either way for Musa, or have been stuck in a bureaucratic quagmire.

eerily close.

Wynne over Roux and Smeltz over Kosta.

Is this a strong team? Should be stronger than Fiji you'd hope.

What do you mean 'gone this time'

Rogerson hasn't been in a squad since the ONC, when like 10 dudes were injured.

6 phoenix players gone (includes krishna)

Kosta deserved not to be called up

Why is Roux not there or Boyd?

Glad we have the brothers, to cap tie cause fudge aussie

Awsome too see Reid and Smith back

Hopefully wood can transform his scoring to the All Whites.

Supprised to see botherton there, would be better to leave him in england becuase he is starting to get game time, we could have easly gotten Luke Adams.

I think its a good squad!

A squad that will do the job.

Differences to last squad

As said before, I know about Cameron's injury and hes just not fit enough anymore, so yeah he is dropped, but disappointed in that. He looked super good before his injury.

Kosta is a fair call. In my own opinion, I think Boyd will never get a call up, unless he gets first team games, not reserves. I'm guessing thats what Hudson is thinking.

Adams is good, but to me, it seems like Hudson uses him as a back up player. Whenever Reid can't make it, Adams is there. Like Hudson's go to Centre Back.

Roux is an interesting one. I Don't have a comment cause I don't like watching any other A-League teams apart from the Phoenix.

 Graham is obvious = ACL

As with THW

Fallon can be my Dad, but a good mentor to have in the squad. I wouldn't be surprised if he travelled with the squad, like he was just there.

Louis Fenton.

Oh and irrelevant, but replying to TV's message before, According to someone I know who knows Mr Musa, he has been TRYING to sort his eligibility out. He was born in England, came here as a kid, Yeah fair enough, But hasn't live in NZ for 5 years after the age of 18 after going to the USA.

I don't know much about Exemptions, but my guess is, Exemptions would only be given out to players if they were crucial to the All Whites squad, e.g. if Reid somehow wasn't eligible. Musa isn't really a key part, and we do have a lot of Defenders as named in the squad above, although I don't really understand why we have soo many Defenders. Wingbacks? Colvey and Wynne?

The inclusions of both Dane and Jai(I thought this was pronounced as Jay) are quite interesting. I haven't seen either play but both sound like good prospects. Smith will be crucial as he will get to spend more time in camp, and when it comes to confeds, he will be key.

How is it that Dyer is included but not Ridenton? I know we complain about the Dyer thing every time a squad is announced but FFS he isn't up to the task. At least Fenton was left out.
