I paid for my tix on Tuesday and they haven't arrived in the mail yet. Is this something I should be worried about?

Getting worried, ordered them online Monday last week, I'll be on the phone if I don't have them by Friday.

Myself and my better half are regulars to Nix games and were at the ROF All White qualifier. We also did the whole Boca jnrs thing and when Becks was here we did that too.

We are NOT going to the Para game.

Why?

Young family, living in Wellington, living off my income alone.

I can't afford to pay $80+ plus the likely $30 for food/drink and maybe parking.

We can not afford it. Otherwise we would have been there in a heartbeat.

Found it suprising that on stuff Galding was surprised by low ticket sales.

I just thought there would be more advertising around about it. Tuesday night is a hard sell, but I have as of yet failed to see a poster or advert with Nelsens, Smiths, Reids etc faces on it.

All Aboard the Phoenix/ All Whites Bandwagon!!

Good post. I feel for you as many of us have been through that children and 1 income problem before.

I mix with many older people who also cant afford to attend either all the Nix or Rugby games they would like to anymore. Sometimes at certain stages of your life you have to pick and choose carefully what you can afford to attend and sorry but a friendly match against Paragauy is not a priority for many of these people.

Cant wait for game time myself though. Hope I'm sitting standing in a big crowd.

I agree I havent seen anything about the game anywhere. There is almost an article a day about the Phoenix in the newspaper, but nothing about this upcoming game. Glading needs to get out and start hussling. This is the problem with NZFC the just expect people to turn up.

Yea all the advetising ive heard is a short add on radio sport. Theres no doubt AUK should sell out with its population but i just don't know how many people know about it. The cost thing is an issue too, but as they said when the players start arriving it should get more media attention and tickets should pick up - hopefully.

yeah, how can you be suprised at low ticket sales when there has been limited viusl advertising, snipets on the radio will not get to everyone.....10500 people who knew the event was coming but what about thise that are blissfully unaware......if the stadia aren't packed I think NZF have a bit of explaining to do re virtually no marketing on this...

And if they were hard-out doing TV and print marketing, Napier Phoenix would be screaming about "lack of transparency" and asking why they didn't ask his permission to spend his subs money on such extravagance.

lets face it the nz public are a bunch of  t**sers that wil find any reason not to attend somthing. All we need is a Ryan Nelson rally call and itl b sorted.

Disagree. We drove up to the Hamilton 'Nix game and the young kids were talking about Winston Reid, not Nelsen. (i.e they wanted to see him play).

He should be forefront, especially given he's now in the PL.

yes, it is a bit of a worry about the slow ticket sales - and as has been said; where is the advertising?
Remembering back to the final WC qualifying game there was huge publicity based on the slogan 'one shot for glory', but if I remember right, it was paid for by the players forfeiting their appearance fees.
Surely, with the money earned by NZFC from the AW making it to the World Cup there is money in the pot to more aggressively advertise these two games?
Even if it's on a basis of 'let's say thanks to the AW's' - 'cos their World Cup performances certainly cheered up my year.

Yeah, cept if this was the Sunday game and the Nix game was on the Tuesday night, I'd be at the Paraguay game for sure.  Feeling like it's one or the other next week.

15,000 MAXIMUM...

No advertising, high ticket prices, Tuesday night,non-competitive game and playing a team that NZ just played in a drab 0-0 draw a mere 3-4 months ago.

Not really surprising that the casual fans are not overly excited about this really.

How are the ticket prices high? This is international sport. All Black tickets are $75 minimum, cost me $40 to go to the ODI v Oz last summer. $30 for a day at the Basin to watch the Test match. I really don't think $40 and $50 tickets are expensive for an international sporting event.

It's a friendly.

Clearly 60% of those who were at the Bahrain game agree too? That was the same price and it was a do or die World Cup qualifier, a huge difference.

I know what you are saying, but all of the events that you listed are competitive games.

For what its worth, I think All Blacks tickets are outrageously high, save for the $70 tickets which are just about ok.

don't know much about football.. actually, this is my first time watching it live.  my 5 year old son is really excited and looking forward to it.  wife is going as well.

what pisses me of is the lack of advertisement and marketing campaign for this game.

The OZ v NZ 5th ODI was a friendly, any day of test cricket we play in is a friendly.

I know News has been pushing the barrow for sometime about a large proportion of the Bahrain game crowd coming from out of town. Maybe there is a bit more truth in that than we all realised and they can't get back here on a Tuesday night.

Also Gourdie just tweeted no Santa Cruz for Paraguay.

Sky Sport have recently started advertising their coverage of the games, so hopefully that increases a little bit more interest.

Radio Sport always use players for advertisements, I remember in Season 1 they got the 4 Brazillians to advertise Nix games, they got Fred for a while as well. And had Ricki on to advertise Bahrain game last year. Was great.

Half of the all blacks tests are friendlies, the cricket games are friendlies. Any netball game you go to are friendlies unless it is the world cup.

They just dont call them friendlies, whereas football does.

It is why it was so stupid of rugby reporters to rubbish the all whites games before the world cup as not good results as they were only friendlies. The first thought on anyones mind was "well so was the all blacks so called famous unbeaten tour of the northern hemisphere"

hard to call ab's games friendlies, they are always playied within some "meaningful" comp or series....there is always a trophy to be won. However not attending an aw's game because it is a friendly is a lame excuse. Friendly or not it still counts towards rankings etc.

Hardly. By your definition NZF just needs to go down the trophy store in petone, buy a cheap piece of silver, call it the Ryan Nelsen trophy and the game will sell out.

Only the trinations is attributed to a competition, the rest are just friendlies with a random trophy involved to make people interested.
