The only reason I can think of is Hudson wanting to use Wood's height as an advantage over the smaller Chinese defenders however we aren't really retaining possession from it.

Kosta is in some fine form. He's getting around the park nicely.

obviously keen for some game time

We had a break there and McGlinchey (?) just bombed it forward for Wood.  Even if Wood heads it, we don't keep the ball because we don't have a second striker lurking.

Same old problem in area in the middle of the park. WANTED: Riera

For some reason I dont think h oofing it forward is the plan - we just have no one to transition it from defence to attack. weeMac and Tuiloma are struggling

Soft cock...barely touched by smith.

So close

Look at those lasers by the Chinese fans - seems to be coming disturbingly common in Asian games

Have to admit the overall game plan is working. When we get a bit of possession in the final third we do look dangerous.

I get uncomfortable watching the Chinese counter attack.

Decent game so far. Some great chances both ways and a fair bit of niggle

i do kinda like seeing wood knock it down to an unrunning kosta, rojas, thomas

Unmarked on the edge of the box? That was terrible from the young LB.

And that's why.

good save by gleeson. our defense seems to cover zones rather than players, both smith and lb should have been on players then

Permalink Permalink

3 times we've not picked up players in the box..?

Chinese goal seems iminent. They are going down Roux's side of the field a lot.

Permalink Permalink

The chinese have squandered many chances so far. Let's hope that it continues.

Permalink Permalink

they seem to be getting in behind Roux very easily

Our play is definitely the scrappier of the two. Still, some promising stuff going forward. Always going to be teething issues
