AUCKLAND – The Road to Brazil is set to make its southern-most stop with the All Whites’ crucial FIFA World Cup qualifier against New Caledonia confirmed for Dunedin on March 22.
The impressive indoor facility at Forsyth Barr Stadium will host Dunedin’s first New Zealand football international in 25 years and tickets have gone on sale with Ticket Direct this week.
A win will guarantee the All Whites a place in the intercontinental playoff against a CONCACAF (North and Central American) nation in November 2013 and New Zealand Football Chief Executive Grant McKavanagh is hoping for a big crowd for the match.
“It would be fantastic for the All Whites to turn up to a new city for a must-win on the Road to Brazil and play in front of a full house.”
“The team has been welcomed in Auckland and Christchurch and I’m sure a passionate Southern crowd will create a unique atmosphere inside the magnificent arena.
“Ticket prices are the same across the stadium so I urge fans to get in quick to secure the best seats,” said McKavanagh.
The All Whites last played in Dunedin in 1988, and more recently A-League matches involving the Wellington Phoenix have been played at the stadium.
