AUCKLAND – The Road to Brazil is set to make its southern-most stop with the All Whites’ crucial FIFA World Cup qualifier against New Caledonia confirmed for Dunedin on March 22.

The impressive indoor facility at Forsyth Barr Stadium will host Dunedin’s first New Zealand football international in 25 years and tickets have gone on sale with Ticket Direct this week.

A win will guarantee the All Whites a place in the intercontinental playoff against a CONCACAF (North and Central American) nation in November 2013 and New Zealand Football Chief Executive Grant McKavanagh is hoping for a big crowd for the match.

“It would be fantastic for the All Whites to turn up to a new city for a must-win on the Road to Brazil and play in front of a full house.”
“The team has been welcomed in Auckland and Christchurch and I’m sure a passionate Southern crowd will create a unique atmosphere inside the magnificent arena.

“Ticket prices are the same across the stadium so I urge fans to get in quick to secure the best seats,” said McKavanagh.
The All Whites last played in Dunedin in 1988, and more recently A-League matches involving the Wellington Phoenix have been played at the stadium.

Yellow Fever/White Noise block booking is locked in and confirmed. $35 per adult, $15 for students, $15 for kids, and no family ticket price. There is no group booking discount available. Awaiting confirmation about any ticketing fees but my understanding is that these are incorporated into the ticket pricing.

These tickets are for the heart of the White Noise zone with the intention of creating a solid core group if Fever supporters who can generate great atmosphere for the rest of the crowd to feed off. This has worked very well in previous Nix matches in Dunedin with great feedback, and has the added benefit of reducing problems with people buying in the zone and not being aware of unspoken rules. With a big enough core of supporters it will mean we have enough room for the hardcore without spreading us out too thinly.

"spreading out too thinly"

Since when has that ever been applied to the Fever Zone?

Think Fenton would be more likely than Appiah-Kubi

I agree but he'll be with the Under 20s ala Howieson. Otherwise yeah i wouldn't have suggested it :)

Wonder how he'd go slotting into a 3-4-3. Surely we won't see a 4-4-2 with Bertos and Lochhead in the back four on form? Ah depth! Sigh!

Form team would surely have to be:

                   Moss

Bertos Dura Sigmund Lochhead

                 Vicelich

Fenton      McGlinchy       Rojas

            Smeltz Brockie

Would have Wood or Smeltz and maybe Payne for Brockie
Edit: Fenton is with the u20s so is probably not available so Kosta in for Fenton.

Yeah, that's why I would have him in the team. Though, if Smeltz starts I'm not that fussed - he is getting back into a bit of form himself.

Ah right. I was taking the mickey, and posted the team that is currently the worst in the A-League, just with the gaps filled in. My *actual* lineup would be quite a bit different.

I wondered who that was.  Talked for ages and lots of pointing at a notepad.

Was Dura explaining the offside Law to Fred?

Fred was doing most of the talking and pointing.  Dura was looking like a captain whose team had just lost again and was rather stern.

He still came and greeted the remaining fans before he left the pitch.

Michael Fitzgerald could earn a recall. Japan Football League team of the year (2012) and promotion to J League 2 with V Varen. I thought he was very good against China but obviously struggled (played out of position) in his other international appearance/s

Just because someone is a great player doesn't mean that they are a good captain. Playing skills do not translate directly to leadership skills.

It'll be interesting because i know Smith has captained the side already, but that Reid hasn't.

reid is captaining west ham in nolans absence. he's matured a lot this season and i think our captain should be playing at the highest possible level. just my opinion

anyone else get the feeling though that Reid tries to avoid any such AWs games? Allardyce hates him coming back, and he always seems to be carrying niggles leading up to international windows
