30 mins and water break. She must be warm. We are doing okay. But yeah have been lucky.  This game is great for likes of Stamenic, Greive etc

It’s a massive leap from Danish 2nd tier SPL and the like. Initimidating atmosphere. Stamenic and Bell have their hands full. Same Smith who is starting to look slow already

Bell has struggled considering how highly he is rated. Smith also looking pretty slow, assume Boxall will get a chance second half.

Smith has been well positioned, and covered the inside run from their right well. May not be quick, but can time a challenge.

Bell and Stamenic has been poor for me in the first half particularly in possession. Need to be better with it.

Not really offering much on attack at the moment.

Not a bad half from us, been competitive in the middle, got in at 0-0, Peru have had some chances but can you honestly argue they deserve the lead off the chances they've had? I can't.

Remember Costa Rica are also not as good as Peru. And lost to Panama the other day. So good signs. Let's see what our boys can do second half!

Pretty sure I've seen Oli Sail run out of his box more in this half than I have during his entire career at the Nix. Is that out of necessity or just lack of familiarity and trust with his centre backs? Either way heart attack inducing stuff.

Getting to half time without conceding is crucial with regards to the big dance next week. No small feat given how starved of possession we've been. But you get the feeling the levee is gonna break soon. Would love to see us have some proper build up play and maybe get a few more shots off in the second half before that happens.

We've also managed to slow the game down much to the ire of the Peruvians but need to get some passing accuracy and possession retention going to match.

The standard of reffing has been really good though. Had forgotten what that was like.

So many wayward passes, no doubt we are struggling with the pace and higher level opponent. Peru players can see a step ahead of us at times and easily win possession again. That being said we have been better shutting them out than I thought. And Garbett has been playing confidently which goes a long way. A bit too many passes amongst the backline for me, would like to see us play a touch more positive.

They are young and under immense pressure but their passing and option taking has let them down often. Sometimes it seems confusion with Greive etc where they want the ball. Not linking up well

But they badly need to get better in 2nd half. Some of Tuiloma’s passing has been poor as well

Good news is I think Peru are better than CR, and it’s still 0-0. Plus there won’t be 30,000 screaming Ticos fans in Doha. Fudgeing hope not. This is basically a home game for the Peruvians which makes it extra tough

Nice work from Libby and Wood to create the shot for Greive. Libby loves a good nutmeg. Anxx DXC yes the red is excellent

solid half, as expected Peru have been good on the ball and created some concerning moments which our defence has dealt with well enough, only the corner really threatened, the cross/shot was well taken care of.
Thought the refs have done well not to buy into the Peruvian's going down easy, not that there has been heaps of it.
Think Bell has been kept very quiet, Stamenic too. Garbett has been working hard but the quality pass to the wide men havent been great. Tuiloma has missed Libby twice.
We look composed, but chances are going to be far and few between so we need to make the ones we get count.

Pj on for Smith. Little surprised to see Lewis on for Stamenic.

Big chance for Lewis to put his name on the starting 11 for CR.

Holy shark, it's in a different continent, what's the connection between Peru and Spain that so many of them live there (I assume they are locals!)?

Sure, but even if the All Blacks play in London there wouldn't be close to this many NZ fans (although I just googled and see Peru has a 32 million population which I didn't realise, so similar thing but much bigger population I guess).

Peru has a 6x larger population than NZ and has roughly 33k fans at this game. Equivalent crowd on a per capita basis for NZ would be 5,500, which I think you could reasonably expect in London.

I’m in Lima. There are a heap of charters going to Doha via Madrid. Maybe a few have gone to Spain early. But 3 million Peruvians or about 10% of the popn live overseas. Maybe 500k to 1M in Europe

And they finally have a well coached football team to be proud of. Were Sth American whipping boys for a long time

Just over 42,000 Peruvians (over 18) are registered to vote in Barcelona (152,000 in all Spain).

Many Peruvians  living in other European cities would have travelled for the game.

Missed how Reid got injured (5am and beers....), if someone kicked him and it's a bruise all good... if it happened as he was running or something Danny should be getting him off the field ASAP.

nothing to do with the league they play in, that's just a new player coming on and doin something he shouldn't - passing the ball back to his keeper and putting  him under pressure.

Yeah that wasn't good... advantage Stefan. Got to practice playing from behind now which may be valuable. Rock Hopper earlier comment about Oli being a bit uncomfortable having to come up like that looking a bit on the money... it's like he hasn't quite clicked with the defence as of yet. And with time precious, that chemistry is where Stefan may have the edge...

Great hit out despite the loss, my takeaways:
- Defensively we’re very well organised, didn’t look particularly shaky at all with the starting backline.
- Garbett has really announced himself, he’s gonna be a key player in the years to come.
- Need to do better on attack. Really missing Sarpreet and Thomas in getting the ball forward and feeding Wood.
- Need to sharpen up the passing and possession a bit, can’t risk a high volume of turnovers vs CR.

Overall, enormously improved since 2017 and we look like we can give Costa Rica a real run for their money.

We looked much better 2nd half... despite 0-0 half time and losing 1-0. I'm unconvinced about Greive relative to Kosta/Rojas and even Waine. Does having more control of the midfield second half mean Lewis is in contention for a starting spot?
