That was the match review in the paper the next day though. It's sh*t. Talking up the Aussies poor crowd showing and down playing the decent amount of Kiwis who flew across the ditch is pathetic. Don't expect much more from one of Murdoch's rags though.

The Age isn't a bad paper, although it had way too much AFL!

After Rattue's little effort today - "Ricki is living in a fantasy world because Brownie will NOT be fit, I the great god Chris the Rugbyhead have spoken" - I am beginning to think he's deliberately trolling us.

I bought a copy of The Age before i left. One writer in particular (Greg Baum) was extremely patronising and condescending towards the All Whites and New Zealand football in general. It didn't help that he looked like a smug odious twat in his photo either.

Glenn Moss blog in the NZ herald.....says the AW's are now calling Australia the   "Chopperoos"...love it!!

The DS of 2009-10...I reckon he had some kind of footballing "I'm a vicious unrepentant convicted criminal yet I hate all other convicted criminals" syndrome...of course, he hated NZers with a passion (i.e., while he always said "we meant nothing to him"...we knew that wasn't true - why DS, was NZ qualifying in 2010 such a "big no-no"???)...however, the reality was, when he saw us - he despised what he saw, yet troubling, saw his very own reflection of a person with similar problems (in a footballing sense) and he hated himself for it...he was like a dog shaking a bone...he just couldn't let go.  YF was bloody great back then.

yeah people like him stuck to their guns at least. Now a lot just sulk and leave the forums or resort to getting personal the first time someone disagrees with anything they say. 

Which is why a lot of the lively debate has gone. 

There are of course some still around who are up for a lively (sensible) and interesting debate over an issue - JD springs to mind. But it happened a lot more back then, and I do miss it. 

I realise how funny it is to say that after a post in which I call DS an idiot, but hey I was only 21 back then - give me a break!

You were right though Tegal, he was a complete idiot.  Best thing that ever happened here was running him out of town (largely due to how this game played out ironically).

Pretty sure he turns up every now again, under a different account...his 'kiwi baiting' mixed together with an incredibly condescending undertone are very easy to spot...
