I keep switching between pride for our performance, regardless of the result, and intense rage over the tackles and the late goal. As I've sobered up I've gotten angrier.

I was going to respont last night, but decieded to watch the game again and comment with a cool head rather than the heart.
I was suprised with the starting line up, as I thought that the Euro imports would start. I am glad that they did not as in the 1st half was as good a performance as I can remember. Even some of the platyers I have been critical of did OK.
Without taking anything away from our guys I thought that Aussie were as bad as I have seen them for years.
Sure we did not allow them to play, but their tactics were wrong. Playing too deep and not moving to ball quickly . Also playing 1 up front.
Their selection was even more suprising. Brescino has only plated one game this year due to a back problem.
The players not playing for whatevwr reason were Chipperfield,Emerton,,Kennedy,Kewell,Whilkshire,Schwarzer was always going to make it hard to beat us.
Elliott,Fallon and Killen were my stand out players.
The tackle on Leo by Grella was a red card.
Overall I was pleased with the way we played-first half.
A draw would have been a fair result.
I am not condoning some of the tackles but perhaps it might have been better if Fallon had not come out with those stupid remarks in the first place.

I agree. Fallon is an idiot for rarking them up.

Three for me, and two for them.

What time is it Dale ?

Playing too deep and not moving to ball quickly . Also playing 1 up front.

But that's all Pim ever plays, so it wasn't a shock.  The hilarious bit was they were playing the same tactics they do with Keenedy playing but instead they had MacDonald who's a dwarf.

Unless someone else in their group has a massive meltdown they'll be home before us in South Africa.

You are probably right, but we will be on the same Qantas flight home.

THIS. I only heard the crowd twice, just after each goal. I want to know if in the TV footage you can only hear the White Noise, just like the Fever in the Nix v Sydney game a couple of months back.

QFT.
f**kers here put it on at 14:45 today when I was still on my flight back.
Buggered if I know when Fox will replay it.
Normally an Aus win would mean 4-5 times a week. I don't think this game quite falls into that category.

But we're ranked 60 places behind them and expect to be, they think they're a chance.

Besides we'll be a day behind them and flying Thai, not Qantas.

Fallon making an off the cuff remark in an interview is absolutely NO excuse for those disgraceful tackles that the Aussies dished out.

Anyone else see the headline in The Hearld Sun?

"Socceroos shine in their send-off"

The article then talks about the great fans Australia has and how quiet we were. Oh, how I rofled.

I liked the MCG screen headlines better.

"Socceroos replaces hello as most popular word in the world"

and

"Global economy boosted by Oar shirt sales"

Three for me, and two for them.

Well done White Noise, loud and clear last night!!
Good , bad and ugly of the game:
Timmo, Rory, Killen's strikes, Nelly, Reid, Elliott all terrific
Boyens ball watching, McGlinchy failed to influence.
Grella and Cahill. Hope someone pays them back big time.

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

Most cringe worthy thing I have ever seen - especially when they were losing

Could definitely hear us - that was the quietest Socceroos crowd of all time. Fair weather in every sense of the word.

and I agree with you on Grella but I thought Cahill's was accidental - just something that happens sometimes. What bothered me the most was Grella whinging that he got a yellow - pathetic.valeo2010-05-25 22:43:45

She got the words wrong in the national anthem... I'm sure she said Voice of love not bonds of love.

To be fair to Rory, He only said he wouldn't be surprised if there were injuries. And that's it. It was sensationalized by the Tabloid Media and then reported poorly to the Australian players.

Really, if the Aussie journos or Players just read the articles and looked at quotes rather than reading Headings then this wouldn't have been an issue.

Disappointed they didn't show me singing the anthem. I was the only person in the stadium who farked it up worse than whoever sang it.

Didn't matter to us in the stands. We sung so loud (not to mention; out of time and tune) that we didn't notice

Just saw Grella on Nightline on TV 3 - "I said sorry at the time. I've been on the receiving end, it's just part of football"

What a complete cock he is.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Having just seen her singing our anthem on Prime she got it totally wrong. I had to move from my seat and stand in the isle because of some whinging c**ts telling everyone in front to sit down. I don't mean to go on but what the f**k where they thinking? AU$45 a seat (not to mention the other NZ$1000 odd I spent getting there) I'm going to stand up for the All Whites. Fark off.

edit - Also met some YFers, Mr_Incredible, BuffonII, Critical_Lemon. Pitty I was there with the mrs and didn't really get to socialize more.

Agreed.

I didn't need a big reason to hate the guy but this is certainly major.  Worse than Kruse's tackle on Bertos.

2b, not just fettucini, looks more like pies, beer, and who knows what else combined with bugger all exercise.

Well, if it makes you feel better. Oh sorry, Buff. Just watched it again, man you looked great.

How'd that go?
