Playing okay, dominated the first half until a goal against the run of play. Just a couple of howlers, to both teams to be fair.

I thought we were very good and aggressive breaking up the play but struggled a bit with the ball

Yep, a bit more untidy on the ball than the Mexico game - the US are a bit more structured than Mexico and I think we are finding it harder to find passing lanes through.

Delivery was poor.

Have we scored?  Am back at work

yeah, Monty. It's currently 1-1

Well that's bloody awesome

We have to get something from all this pressure.

OFF THE LINE!  Almost a Patterson double from the backheel.

Cameron was anonymous, so I don't really mind.

Cleared off the line from the USA defender, Kosta is skinning them on the left!

McGlinchy & Kosta combining really well since Kosta came on.  Good signs for Phoenix?

Did we score again or did Marinovic just make amends for earlier?

Great to get a result. I thought Colvey and Patterson acquitted themselves very well.

Great result, great performance. And after the Oceania Nations I never, ever thought I'd say this, but we'll done Anthony Hudson.

Im glad the All Whites didn't concede late there, the journalists could have just copy and pasted what they wrote about the Mexico game.

Thought Kosta would sneak a winner against a tiring USA defence who had no idea how good he was

Perhaps with the success of these last two games the coach should be given keys to the city.

With the amount of criticism Hudson has copped recently (mostly justified), he deserves a lot of credit for those two performances.

The All Whites held the ball well, created chances and defensively their shape was very impressive against decent opposition. With Ryan Thomas and potentially Tommy Smith to come into the team, the signs look promising.

The onus is now on NZ football to build on these fixtures and arrange fixtures more frequently against strong opposition. If performances and results such as these continue fans will turn out to home games. Other countries will now be more inclined to accept matches after these two results.

Also from a Phoenix perspective, Durante, Kosta and in particular McGlinchey all looked very good.

Kosta burning off Michael Bradley down the left was like a Ferrari taking on a Morrie Thou. Brilliant.

Could only follow the last 20 min via Twitter - sounds like we had wave after wave of attack with only a few defensive scares. Fair assumption?

How did the first part of the game go?

it does make you wonder though, why oh why did we play against the island nations in the manner did?

Watching on a dodgy in and out stream, but another real good performance by AWs. Bit of a messy game compared to Mexico match I thought, with scrappy/soft goals and not helped by what looked a lumpy pitch.

Few heart in mouth moments esp with Marinovic as obviously team under instructions to keep fearlessly playing out from the back. I thought Dyer mostly looked really good, and later in 2nd half the pace of him and Barba etc caused real problems for the Yanks.

Very promising signs, but still was a pretty moderate USA side, and NZF needs to do their best to try for friendlies against likes of Mexico who more mirror South American teams. Very difficult to arrange I know.

I watched the first half only, I thought we were really strong and aggressive breaking up the play and winning the ball but I didn't think we were very good in possession.  Wood was really strong but out wide it was a bit hit and hope.  But we looked like a proper football team.

1000x this!  In a way, it actually makes me more frustrated that we had to sit through a week of the absolute dross that was delivered in New Guinea.

The best team in the first 20 and the last 30 (except the last couple of minutes which were all the US) but had a bad spell in the middle with the US goal really taking the wind out of us.

Without that US goal, which really came out of nowhere, it would have been interesting to see what happened.

We were much better in possession in the last 30 or so, but at that point the game broke down a lot with both sides making a lot of subs.

Pleasing performances. Thought the team played well. Obviously USA set themselves up differently from Mexico which didnt allow as much space. USA were far more structured. Regardless of what their team was, our team was inexperienced and young also although it may have been close to full strength.

Hudson has a good core of players that can be called on when needed.

Gee I dunno about Cameron. Did Hudson really sub a sub?

Great that no Phoenix players are injured.

Ridiculously shark pitches and islander teams' mentality of football is "go straight through everything".. so they tend to drag football down to their level.

Accept it or not Hudson did say that that was the plan in the Islands and that we, sitting comfortably on our couches, didn't understand the sort of conditions that they were playing in.

I agree we did the long ball game poorly though and were very lucky to win the tournament.
