After match comment that Ingham had no legs over the last 20 minutes - maybe Hudson was right?

But he was picked this time round, so must have passed the fitness test. I think most people’s issue is the inconsistency of it (Dura was picked in the same squad and was unfit coming off an injury) and also the way Ingham was thrown under the bus publicly - it seemed like he was being made a scapegoat.

Double standards? Hudson? Surely you are just making that up cause you and the forum dislike him excessively........

One's a seasoned pro, with a known professional attitude coming back from injury, doing all he can to get back to fitness. The other is young kid, who was previously at Confeds Cup warned he needed to work on his fitness. He obviously didn't listen and turns up not at the standard he was told he needed to reach. He's sent home, and the media then ask Hudson the reason he was sent home. Hudson 'throws Ingham under the bus' by telling the truth.

To young Dane's credit he responds to this kick up the arse pretty well and gets fit. If this is the worst indiscretion that befalls him over his career, he'll do okay. Most well brought 18 yr kids respond pretty well to the odd kick up the jack see. Life goes on.

Ingham is just awful and yes Smeltz offers nothing now. Smith to replace Durante and Roux for Ingham. Colvey doesnt seem to ever get better. Doyle or Wynne in his place. Agree Thomas forward and no Kosta. Bring in Bill or Musa

This is exactly what I said pre game but it might be a better idea away in November to play a back four of: Smith-Reid-Durante-Boxall.

Have our four best defenders out there to try and keep the goals conceded down as much as we can as we WILL be defending for most of both games in November.

So it turns out that Moss missed the Japan game just to warm the pine for Newcastle last night....

Moss seems to have a history of falling for Ernie's sweet talk only to end up as reserve to a younger keeper.

Same thing happened to him under Ernie at Victory when he ended up reserve to the teenage Langerak

C'mon Glen, back to Wellington, mate....

This

After watching a couple of the recent Sth American qualifiers we are in for very very tough games, who ever we play against. We will need all our best defenders and also some muscle in midfield. We need someone to screen in front of the CD,s, to win turnover ball etc. Weemac and Thomas are just too lightweight to do that job.

I really feel sorry for young Ingham. Being thrown in the deep end and having to learn your craft at international level is unfair. He probably has more international minutes than A-League minutes. He looks a good athlete but from my observation he has only a very rudimentary knowledge of what is required of a wide defense player. In particular his positioning, his tactical awareness and his anticipation need a lot of work.

His failure to close down the wide Japanese player lead directly to the losing goal. By my count that makes 5 goals conceded that have come down his channel this AW year. At this level you just can't stand and watch..... I am not saying that Roux or Boxall or someone else would have saved all those goals but they surely would have done better. Hudsons blindness or stubborn-ness is bizarre.

Ingham may one day be a very good RB.....but IMO he needs to go back and get loads of A-League games under his belt so that he might learn his craft.

For someone that has only played 3 A league games and 4 for the AW's tells me that Hudson must have rocks in his head.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

Can't see Hudson switching back to a back 4 now

Durante is not one of our four best defenders IMO
You know we belong together...

Who would you have in place of Durante if as is likely, Smith is not match fit for international football in 4 weeks?

Funny I thought exactly the same thing when I checked out the formations for the Jest game.

All that talk about Mossy staying in Newcastle so he is match fit come November...

Hes stayed in newy because duncan was carrying an injury and it was touch and go if he was going to play

this may be true (it is), but Hudson was still going on like he was the No 1, so clearly had bad intel

No Hudson didn't.

If you listen to interview when AWs squad named, Hudson said Moss was competing for keeper spot at Newcastle, and taking him to Japan would hurt his chances of nailing that spot. Basically him and Moss consulted, and agreed best Moss stay in The Castle, in hope Ernie would pick him.

It's funny you say that. I also thought Reid looked disappointingly disinterested. Still he can be hard to get a read on.

Certainly not a good articulate interviewee as Nelsen always was as captain. The Hammer needs to be giving the full monty in November for us to have any chance.

"To bring Mossy over and not play and then miss his club's first game and then potentially be sat on the bench for three, four, five weeks, if he's called upon in November then he's not going to be as ready as we need him," Hudson said.

"This way, he can try get in his first-team there, start and have games under his belt. That's the thinking behind that."

Okay, he does say "try get in his first-team," but he wasn't realistically competing for a spot. Duncan was the No 1, Moss was the No 2. There was no scenario bar a major Duncan injury where Moss was going to not "be sat on the bench for three, four, five weeks", regardless of whether he went to Japan or not.

I'll admit he wasn't quite going on "like he was the No 1," but he definitely thought there was a genuine contest there when there wasn't really.

How do you know? Ernie have you on speed dial?  Also Moss must have known Duncan was carrying bit of an injury approaching start of the season, and was doubtful.

More importantly if Duncan had pulled out injured, and Moss is riding the pine in Japan - he misses out on a starting the first A League game, maybe having a blinder (though as it turns out CCM offered little), and clinching the starting spot at the Jets for awhile.

Right call from Hudson & Moss, to stay behind in The Castle.

Haiti just drew 3-3 with Japan in a friendly...Japan equalised in the last minute...suddenly our 'close' loss doesn't seem so good ??

Going by the Japan coach comments before the game, he picked a completely different side made up of mostly domestic players for the Haiti match. Probably can't read much into the scoreline if comparing against our game with them.
