People are entitled to their opinion on Hudson.  I don't hate him, I just think he is not very good. He stands and falls by his record. The Hudson era stats against non Island sides are

Played 15, won 1 draw 2, goals for 9, goals against 26, 0.6 goals per match...can't score, can't defend

0.6 goals per match with a side that has a EPL striker and two wingers currently at Dutch Div 1 clubs is not good enough IMO.

The Roar said today they had recieved zero information from anyone at NZF about the fitness requirements for Ingham and they think that the whole thing was handled poorly....no info from NZF? well knock me down with a feather...LOL

Considering the past AW scores in NZ against the Solomons are 6-1, 5-1, 6-0 ???? then anything less than a 4 goal winning margin will be a disappointment

Roar football director Craig Moore met with Ingham on Wednesday, and said the club would provide the shattered 18-year-old with the support he needed.

“I don’t think it was good the way the situation was handled,” Moore said.

“We were never given any guidelines by the New Zealand Football Association about the level of fitness Dane was expected to be at.”

Rumour is also that Hudson's rejected a whole heap of interview requests from NZ media, and has cancelled media appearances.

Yet he still has time to do self-fluffing puff pieces with the UK media.

Cordwainer Bull with a brief history of All Whites who Hudson would have definitely sent home here...

https://in-the-back-of-the.net/2017/08/31/guest-post-dane-ingham-chewing-the-fat/

It’s hard to recall a historical precedent for Dane Ingham being expelled from the All Whites team camp this week.

While many a player has been overlooked for selection for not scrubbing up in the first place, to be flown in, kitted out and then sent packing breaks new ground and commands a special place in the relatively small Rogue’s Gallery of miscreant All Whites.

“He came in but he was unfit, his body fat was high, and we’ve given him a couple of fitness tests and he’s not where he needs to be,” All Whites coach Anthony Hudson said, in sending Ingham packing back to Brisbane, where he is either now running madly or commiserating with a dozen Castlemaine XXXX and a plate of pork scratchings.

I also want to add - if AH has been talking about fitness levels for so long - why has he not given his players an indication of what level they need to be at when reporting for duty? Moore says NZF didn't tell the Roar - how about the players? You'd think aside from the usual "I need you to run for 90+ minutes and never give up bla bla" - AH could give the players some tangible parameters (body fat not higher than...Beep test minimum acceptable level...100m, 200m, 400m and 800m to be completed in less than...

I find it kind of disturbing that 19 of our 20 All Whites squad have scored a combined total of 10 goals in their Entire international careers. Chris Wood has scored 20 which is double the entire All Whites team hahah

Fanciful? Possibly, possibly hyperbole. But we're in a situation where people assume the worst of Hudson from default. We've got people assuming he sent Ingham home to get his excuses in in advance for losing tomorrow; others who assume that NZF "shut down" his interview quickly to shield him from criticism when they in fact did no such thing. Some even hate him for his English accent which he can't help. Give a dog a bad name and you can hang him. Assign a dedicated scapegoat and he'll never shirk the tag.

In case there's any disagreement, I am radically neutral on Hudson. I think he's clearly angling for a big British job and is mainly concerned with making himself look good, but I'll reserve judgement until after the intercontinental playoff to join the hate.

1. No-one's saying he's creating an excuse for the Solomons game with the Ingham thing - rather that he's been creating a narrative that his far from stellar record here is not his fault, but a result of unprofessional environment and general shamblessness of NZF (some of which, coincidentally, is probably correct). What irks people is that he excels at self-fluffery. If he showed a degree a personal accountability in all this, I suspect most would be a lot more accepting of him.

2. No-one ever said NZF 'shut him down'. In fact it was Hudson who shut down the media appearances, much to NZF's despair (as they're obviously wanting to promote the game on Friday).

Surprised Chris James isn't mentioned, didn't he miss out on the Bahrain games and 2010 WC as a result of turning up unfit to the 2009 Confeds?

I didn't read anywhere that the players knew any specifics (other than AH saying they needed to be 'fit'). If Craig Moore says NZF didn't give the Roar any direction, I wonder if the players were given some - more detailed - instructions regarding the acceptable level of fitness required.

Also beats me how a kid who is going through pre-season and playing minutes can be fitter than [awesome] old, injured Durante.

I saw in an article today that Hudson said he wasn't in contact with the Roar or any other club regarding expectations for fitness of his squad players. That was up to the players to take personal responsibility for. I still cant get over the fact that some of you intelligent people think for a second that the ultimate responsibility for the fitness of a professional footballer [in any environment] does not lay with the player. Even in amateur football that is the expectation -  in fact amateur or professional sport full stop. I've played sport where my coach has given us all a training schedule and had us periodically undertake fitness tests and if we weren't fit enough we sat on the bench. If we were coming back from injury, that was a different thing and latitude was given and we got limited minutes. But if we weren't fit enough because of our own slackness, we had no one to blame but ourselves.

I think in modern professional environments it's more complex than that. Clubs manage players workloads and training schedules and get detailed information back from GPSs and fitness trackers which monitor heartrates and maximum speeds and distance covered and all that sort of thing. Yes the player has to put the effort in but his physical condition is monitored and managed by the club. If the Roar are confused by this then you have to think that the fault isn't solely with the player.

Nope, Lochhead at the time was our best left back despite being unattached and from memory went on to play in a (admittedly terrible) MLS team afterwards.  Christie was terrible, but our midfield options were (are!) seriously lacking then, with Elliott and Vicelich never being replaced.
