I'm putting my money on De Jong.
Andy Martin - All you expect and less
Yeah, if we don't qualify for the next WC the next CEO has a lot of shit to push up a very steep hill. I reckon McKavanagh can see the writing on the wall.
I think everyone just wants to believe that some sort of dispute took place. Everyone loves a bit of drama.
Thats the case if your name is JV.
1 weeks notice aye? Good riddance
Funny how I said there was dissent in the ranks and I was told I was talking bollocks. Nightz where are you now?
Here I am.
People resign jobs everyday of the week, it dosent mean theres dissent in their workplace, you're reading way to much into it.
Agree with Nightz, there can be many factors, some small that over time become a facilitator for change.
As a side which company was De Jong a CEO of?

It's hard not to read into one weeks notice

a 1 weeks notice clause is usually reserved for contractors or those on fixed term contracts for a year in some cases. Tis possible
Or that he resigned 3 weeks ago, and only made it public today?
The phrase is "something is rotten in the state of Denmark"
Something that smells rotten in Denmark is probably fish (given that Lego is plastic and doesn't rot, and the little mermaid is made of bronze so is also not able to rot).
Outgoing New Zealand Football chief executive Grant McKavanagh has explained the unusual timing of his resignation.
He leaves the role at a critical time for the sport, with the announcement of the venue for the All Whites' World Cup intercontinental playoff imminent.
McKavanagh says he has been a change manager at the organisation.
"I've always understood that my skill set would apply to the business for a period of time.
"And just with what's coming up and what's got to be locked in and the amount of time that's going to need to be involved, I've made a decision about where I want to head with that."
McKavanagh is adamant he's making the right decision to leave the organisation now, despite a busy upcoming calendar.
He is stepping down after two years at the helm, with the All Whites' World Cup playoff in November and the FIFA under-20 World Cup looming in 2015.
McKavanagh says having confirmed a venue for November's intercontinental playoff, it's a clean break.
"Having it made now and giving a good plan for that to move forward around the commercialisation of the game and the establishment of relations to move forward with, it's actually probably a pretty good time.
"Because all of that is set together."
Or that he resigned 3 weeks ago, and only made it public today?
It's not a good time though. Key decisions about warm up games need to be made. And then if we fail in Nov then the funding of NZF will need to be very well thought out. Sounds like he is probably sick of a stressful job with an organisation running on skeleton staff and would prefer to chill out and be in the White Noise zone at the cake tin.

Computer software related to sports coaching/ management systems: "his long-standing job as general manager running the New Zealand office of a multi-national software company whose programs are used by New Zealand rugby and cricket, among others."
Unusually for a pro footballer, Fred combined contract computer programming work with playing for Fortuna Sittard in the Dutch top flight for three seasons (53 appearances, 6 goals) and a season in the Second Div. 1990- 1994. Says he needed the mental stimulation he wasn't getting just from playing. Always one of the smarter footballers around...

Still want to say everything is OK nightz?
I'm putting my money on De Jong.
its a big trough ,theres no need to push and shove...
McK was promoted to his level on incompetence. Should have kept selling TVs. If you met him you would realise this - his arogance and poor performance was always going to catch up with him. No one could work with someone that rated themselves so highly with no action to show for it. A prize tosser..... look at the staff that were walking out he was nearly the only one left.
Yes NZF old boys club in top gear. De Jong, Herbert, Van Hattum etc. Don't think any of the NZ footy community really who's any good at NZF, or who's arrogant and who's not. But those who've been in the football community a wee while know the three names mentioned here will all be looking after themselves. After-all that FIFA gravy train is sure as hell hard to push aside. I'd shaft anyone to get amongst all that first class freebie stuff.
I thought Ryan Nelson did a great job with AW's at the last WC playoffs, but hey Bahrain are mediocre compared to Honduras or Panama, plus Nelson is not there in any capacity now. Nor will he want to either post Toronto season. But if Herbert doesn't get import technical help for the WC Playoffs, you can hold your tix for Wellington then, as the tie will be all over before the return leg. One assumes that's why Winston Reid came across on TV like a started muppet post Dunedin WCQ, as he'd probably never played amongst such a shambles for years, and the reality of it all down the WCQ track kicked in real quick.
Early this year there were a whole heap of key jobs advertised. Herdman, Hunt & Priestman all left. I'd say we have quite a sizeable vacuum of talent at present, but also opportunities. Board needs to get smart about the next round of key appointments.

Yes.
I'm not so guilable that I believe everythng thats written in the granny herald.
You are a lone voice my friend and no one is rushing to say 'what a good guy, what a great job he did'
So if de Jong got the job he probably wouldn't be able to do any more Sky commentary?
VOTE FOR FRED!!
Anyway so RH already being lined up as technical director apparently - so now we can expect long ball at every level instead of just the All Whites
NZ Football has gone through to many CEOs in a relativity short space of time, something seems to stink about the place. Its not as if some of those who have left have not been of good quality.Sadly few seem to be questioning why this is happening.
The current board (as at May, 2013) of New Zealand Football is: Frank van Hattum (Chairman), Bill Moran (Deputy Chairman), Mark Aspden, Paul Cochrane, Martin Fenwick, Paula Kearns, Dougal McGowan, Shelley McMeeken (co-opted) and Mike Anderson (co-opted).
