But omg can you not see that Aucklands population is, like, 1 million more so there is no way you can draw accurate comparisons like duh.

I think we should phone the company. Clearly something faulty with the equipment.

there are excuses/reasons for either side. does it really matter that much? i think both cities should be disappointed they couldn't even crack 20k each.

Agreed. The only firm conclusion that can be reached from this international window is that Christchurch is the new home of football in New Zealand.

16477 in Wellington. All things considered, that is far more impressive than what Auckland got, but screw it - congrats to Auckland. You got the bigger crowd. Gotta give credit to that.

That being said, while Auckland won the quantity race by a nose, Wellington won the quality race by a country mile. So I'll take that

Both Auckland and Wellington had decent crowds. What is it with this everyone vs Auckland,   Wellington is so f**king amazing their sh*t dont stink mentality.

All things considered, did you consider that of aucklands 1.3million people only about 400k live within 30 mins drive (no traffic), 250k with drive within 18 mins of Albany stadium. Which means alot of the people who went to the game on sat in auckland probably drove a long way to get there and back.
"If" the stadium was in the cbd they could have got 22-24k. But in auckland we like to make everything as inefficient, uncomfortable and visionless as possible.

Well, technically, it's NZF's fault for signing a deal to have every All Whites game in AKL until 2018 played in the arse-end of beyond rather than, for example, the much more central Mt Smart.

my geography of Akld is rubbish - but I went up for the game and the cab from Ponsonby took 15min max which made me wonder what Aklders always go on about. Though I think there has been a motorway extension since the days of the Knightzz

You forget how decentralised this place is. 15 mins from Ponsonby with no traffic sounds about right. But only a tiny minority of us live around there. What if you were coming from Titirangi? Howick? Manurewa?
