Squad has 21 players out of the 23 who play overseas. Star player is Rene Krhin (Inter Milan)
There's also Robert Coren (West Brom- just released)
Striker Novakovic of Koln (Bundesliga) scored 5 goals in qualifying. Seems forward Zlatko Dedic (Bochum, Bundesliga) supplies him the ball usually.
Tight defence- conceded only 4 goals in qualifying.
Two of the goalies are "handy" - in fact they are a pair of cousins called Samir and Jasmin Handanovic. The younger cousin Samir is no. 1, plays for Udinese in Italy and is 6' 4"
Most of the squad seem to play for clubs at a similar level to Slovakia.
England only beat them 2-1 with a dodgy penalty at Wembley in a Sept 2009 friendly- so be interesting to see how AWs do against them...

I guess Rickie wants a holding midfielder along the likes of Brown. Christie is probably the closest fit. I doubt that anyone would have had Christie as a starter if you asked them a month ago.
 
Weemac is not a holding midfielder.....its not his style. He will be backup for Elliot(like he was in the Bahrain game). I would expect Rickie will make a few changes during the match. He saiod he did not want to risk injuries to key players. So probably Elliot will be replaced by Weemac and Nelsen will probably come off as well. Wood could come on for Fallon.
 
This game will probably be like the game against Australia i.e once all the subs come on the second half will become disjoint

I heard on the radio this morning (NatRad) that Killen was out - that he barely trained and won't start.  Both NZH and Stuff have Killen in for Wood.  Anyone know who is right?

Says on the NZF site that Killen won't be risked. Tight Calf, perhaps dancing a bit too hard after the nuptials
Same starting lineup as against Serbia. Herbert not too fussed about the result, just wants to give players the chance to gel together before the big games.

THIS is why the world cup is so, so good- after seeing the All Whites live on tv maybe once a year if you were lucky 3-4 years ago, we now have them playing Australia, Serbia, Slovenia, Chile, SLovakia, Italy, Paraguay within the space of 1 and a half months

Yep, this game is definitely not about the result. I think Ricki will be a lot more conservative this game and sub players off early.
