Ricki's regretting these games now. All the Halberg knockers will be out in force.

I think the All Whites can play regardless of the amount of awards they win they've done it in the past and will do it in the future. I'd also like to think the opinions of people who are informed about football are more important to them than those with no knowledge of it.

The Halburgs is just a joke if all they like to do is criticise the winners.Azevo2011-06-06 19:22:19

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

I know the match happened yesterday, but so did Sonny Bill Williams' "boxing" match.

So this is the line-up (from memory) for the TV1 Main (6pm) Sports News:
1. Richie McCaw's sore foot (long, in depth, multiple interviews)
2. Sonny Bill Williams v a sickness beneficiary
3. French Open Tennis final
4. Various sports people getting gongs
5. Miami Heat v Dallas in American basketball
6. New Zealand football international match against Australia (no interviews, just quick goals highlights)

Not right. (Did I miss something in the main news?)

Although just for once, not too distressed about the low billing.

I know, I know, its serious!

The encouraging thing from the third of the game I saw was that it wasn't as though the Aussies were toying with us and constantly outplaying us. All their goals were very fortunate. Fortunate that Moss had a brain explosion. Fortunate that nobody could be bothered marking Kennedy. Fortunate that Siggy doesn't do a whole lot in the way of thinking with tackles like he made at the end. None of those are major problems with the squad. If Ricki gives them all a yelling at then none of that should happen again.

Your logic astounds me. On that basis every goal scored would be fortunate. As for Ricki yelling at them will fix it. You don't create football 'brains' by yelling at people.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

Doing it as we speak. Just having issues with the DVD of the game I have, but will get it done soon.

Was at SBW "fight". It was a joke, left after 2 rounds and gave my ticket to some kids outside. Plus can't miss the All Whites.

Got last minute comp. tickets, boxing prior was pretty good though. Wouldn't have gone if it wasn't near by too.

Although NZ only had 40% of the possession, they nearly matched Australia's passing conversion rate. They were more accurate in passing in defence - 96% to Australia's defensive pass conversion rate of 94%. After a while Australia wasn't applying intensive squeezing in NZ's defensive half.

NZ full pressed more effectively than Australia did in the early part of the game, putting our defence under pressure.

Overall pass accuracy for Australia was 88%. It was 86% for NZ.

Some Australians, Kilkenny 84%, and Troisi 70%, sprayed the ball around when passing - not picked up by the Australian football print media. They were well below Australia's or NZ's a team passing averages for accuracy. NZ put them under defensive pressure.

Also, Rojas was very effective in ball carrying runs of 15 metes plus and dribbling around Australian players.

Australia's keeper had to make the same number of saves as New Zealand's too. Even though Australi had many more shots on goal, NZ tested the keeper nearly as much.

Moreover, NZ went close to matching Australia in physical one on one duels. Add Nelsen, Fallon and a few others, and it would have been closer again. Australia has never been surpassed in one on one duels by any team since I did the first game against Bahrain three years ago.

I thought NZ performed superbly in the World Cup with the team they had. They were the only team to remain undefeated.

They also did well to qualify for the World Cup. The next step is to gain entry to Asia.

Australia has improved immeasurably as a team since playing in Asia. We are a match savvy team now. NZ can replicate it by playing in Asia.

That is the most incredibly balanced post about a football game I've ever read, anywhere.

Anyone keen to take up the role of Yellow Fever statistician? Becuase stats like that after every Nix game would solve many of the arguments that occur on here after each game.
