We need someone who can mark - and someone who can match the pace they're bringing, both on attack and in hustling defense. We're forced into playing the ball back to them after 3 passes.

All you people who are venting your negativity seem to have unrealistic expectations of what this game was for, and what the likely result was.

We're playing like absolute helmets.

Three for me, and two for them.

The issue is the way we are playing, we knew we would be outclassed but this is one of the worst performances I have seen from us for years.

Doloras - I don't think we expected to win. I just think we were expecting a little more fight. We know we're missing players, it just all feels easier than I think we hoped it would be for them.

Exactly, I don't think even the expectation to put up a good fight was unwarranted, given recent results. I really did not expect the team to be down 3 - 0 at half time and playing what may be the worst football in recent years. That said, they played like that against China in the first half, and came out firing for much of the 2nd...

easily our worst score line/performance since we got pumped by spain 5-0 in the Confeds cup.

I just came on halfway, this is embarrassing, the team structure is very loose and now we are three goals down. There are plenty to say for Ricki for the half time talk.

Not good, heck i would be happy with a 5-0 lose now.

this from tvnz accurate then?

Well halfway through and Ricki Herbert certainly has plenty to think about in the break. The All Whites have been completely outplayed so far. This Mexican side looks sharp and are pouncing on all of New Zealand's defensive errors. On attack the All Whites mid-field look out of ideas and have been incapable of creating any chances.

Although we never expected to win this game would of been nice to at least get some shots... on target :S However, Reid, woods are playing well. And Smeltz also trying to create something even though no one else looked interested. We are looking VERY flat footed and our first touch is horrible. We also seem to be playing around with it trying to do fancy passes deep in our own half... goodness knows why. A few nice touches by Kosta but not linking it up Because the likes of Wood are always finding themselves back defending.

5 of our best and strongest palyers aren't playing and our secondliners are playing out of position. With that, what do you expect? We give Mexico a good training match and play in front of 55,000 people. When we come back and play against the Pacific Island nations, we will thump each and every one of them. We are great against these Pacific nations.
