in some cultures it''s considered a good thing to try and get away with anything u can get away with. that's not limited to paraguay and uruguay though. maybe some of the south americans are more obviously expressive and upfront than, say, some of the europeans, who can also employ dirty tactics. don't take the world cup final this year as being an example of that though. there was nothing subtle about the dirty tactics and anti-football of one side in that game.

Sorry Pao, I think you misinterpreted my comment. I wasn't attempting to justify Ricki's comment.
We were justifiably grumpy that Grella was reportedly NOT sent off because the Oz-NZ match was a "friendly". (Opposite of Rici's view)
My end note was that this precedent may have affected Ricki's judgement. Explain it to some extent maybe, but certainly doesn't justify it in my view.
(Explain and justify quite different beasts: Being drunk may explain one's action, but certainly doesn't justify it)
