so I am guessing that we lost 3-2, but what happened?  Who scored for us, who played well, who got injured (apart from Reid

That was great for the development of our youth. The first goal was just a taste of what these lads are going to bring in the future

good signs

keeping starting 11 on in a competitive match would help

and 4 at the back might not be a bad idea

rockarse played well (dewhurst you poser!)

I thought we played pretty well, should of been a draw though, that was definitely a Rojas penalty.

Wow we dominated possession, 58%

And 41 balls into the penalty area!

Look.  Here's the truth:

Positives: Tommy Smith.  Rojas.  Lots of huffing and puffing.  Sounded good on the radio.  Reasonably enthused.

Negatives: 24 hours together after a nine month break(!) - really, we're gonna be exposed at the back TBH.

We're gonna be much better (if all goes to plan) in Oct-November 2013.

We looked good in patches but our finishing was a bit woefull and of course we had to chase the game hence the 3 rd goal.

We did look good going forward but still a bit slow also need to tighten up the back, the signs are there though. If they are the 4th ranked team then I am reasonably confident we will get to Brasil.

I think their team may look a little different at play offs time if they are the 4th best team Teza.
Like we did in 2010 the word will go out to all eligible Jamaican players. Could be a bit more firepower available out there and a hell of a lot more at stake...think 14th Nov 2009,we know what that's like!!
Agree though, with a bit more playing time together and more opportunities for these young guns coming through there are some very promising signs...loved the Rojas/Wood interplay for the 1st NZ goal.

Improving,,on the up, a work in progress from Italiano and the Nix. Bring on the bathroom bling in '24! COYN!

Good gues..Wood to 1-2 then Killen to make it 2-3.  Young uns played well.  Brockie played whole game for some reason, Keats 20mins.  Some good attacking play but caught out on counter attack and by pace.

Cunning plan by Ricki right there...bork Brockie and dull the Jets attack this weekend v Tards. They're more of a threat to the Nix see.

I doubt it's downloadable. The cricket will be available on Radio Sport's week-on-demand but not the football I fear.

Ah true. Forgot that it wasn't on the actual radio. Oh well.

Maybe Piney can hook us up with a recording?

Huh?? picked it up on the net for a while but was too distracting running 20 seconds behind the live pictures...was that a netcast only?

Yeah, and maybe he can hook us up with all the Nix commentaries I've missed since ZB overhauled their week-on-demand site bloody ages ago!

some thoughts:

yet another ragged performance, but some promise shown

this team really does have to start winning matches especially at home

back 3 is the only way to go with the personnel we have, but the midfield needs to get closer to them to stop conceding messy goals

too many passengers in terms of work rate - none of the front three dropped off without the ball and the wing backs didn't cover enough ground

additionally, we were frequently short of numbers and depth in midfield

rojas looked dangerous

killen showed his value

paston's feet are slow

rojas was class going forward

leo was good when he came on

the team benefits from SigmUnd's drive, but he isn't one of our best and he is probably not the man to play as a fourth defender in a back four

tim brown would do better to apply his work rate working back towards his defenders, rather than aimless forward runs at international levelreg222012-02-29 22:26:29

I still think that when Killen came on we should have tried it for the last 30.  Let Killen and Wood play as a proper front two with a Rojas/Brockie or Rojas/Bertos combination wide.

Thought we played well, Rojas is going to be awesome, Brockie made mistakes, its not often that you can be pleased after a lost, but thought there were lots of positives.

I particularly liked the part where they told us that Auckland City and Waitakere donkey Paul Seaman once kept for England against Brazil.

Rock-Ass looks very good.

I liked that XI and I think Keat/Killen/Bertos/SigmUnd on the bench shows good depth now. Obviously Glen Moss would come in for Mark Paston, but pretty happy with how good that XI could be in 3 years time.

Tricky.  Marco was cleaned up in that early exchange but the ball was close to out when it happened and he jumped.  perhaps if he'd just stood and been cleaned out the referee might have bought it.

The one in the area where someone ended up face down after a goal mouth scramble was never really focussed on.

In three years time Gleeson may have passed Moss as well.

White noise was okay. Was good to be at the front with the fever lads. We got into a verbal fight with some french guy that wanted to play them drums. Oh and for Jesus being there........
Permalink Permalink

Highlights from the White Noise zone:

An old codger with a T-shirt saying JESUS kicking a rugby ball and being told to piss off.
El Grap's "Roman" salute to someone passing in a Croatia shirt.
Trolling the hell out of Jamaica keeper Dwayne Miller.
Marco, Brockie, Reid while he was on, Tommy Smith moving up into the midfield.

Lowlights:
Kosta was pretty crap.
Inter-WN fighting over a bunch of Europeans who came in playing drums. Some of the more, er, "British" members of the group didn't appreciate that.

i should elaborate... both moss and paston have cost us poor goals in recent matches. both are decent a-league keepers, but no more. hopefully someone can step forward at a higher level and give us someone more assured and consistent in between the sticks
